Against Ghana during the World Cup play off we lost the duo of ndidi and iwobi to injury and suspension and we all witnessed how the void created by the absence of these two cost the team. Then imagine not having 4-5 main starters to a competition as big as the world?

The French even surpassed by expectations because I never tipped them to get to the quarter finals let alone the semis and final

How did Iwobi and Ndidi perform against Portugal

apart from Iwobi and Ndidi... there is Alhassan Yusuf, Onyedika, Onyeka, Nwakali, Bonke, Kingsley Micheal e.t.c..

we don't know if anybody forced Eguavoen to pick Shehu and ignore the guys I mentioned above and also have a thin midfield selection...

all I am saying is that Messi is the goat which ends the debate and endless arguments over the years but to compare Cr7 to mbappe is just an insult to the portuguese

Mbappe is a superb talent that will go on to achieve a lot in his career but him reaching cr7’s goal records and breaking it both for club and country? I doubt that will be possible

I don’t even want to bring individual laurels and trophies won in club football to the debate

Its not hype... its about trying different midfielders and picking the ones that click and work well...

and not sticking with the ones that failed to qualify for world cup...

people like you that call it hype are in reality making the S.E weaker and as if S.E doesn't have quality replacements in the midfield.

Please.. Benzema, Pogba and Kante,..who else was missing?
And then prior to the world cup, the trio were injured so I'm not sure they would have offer something extraordinary to this present France team.
Saying France missed them is just an excuse.

grin cheesy

It was still rigged in his favour

A handball that was clear even to var wasn't called

Soft penalties here and there

Mbappe is just too good.

I won't change my stand on how Argentina was favored unnecessarily because of that short midget

That'll be disastrous truly. But what I'm saying is that sometimes the current form of the players not available can be considered. Rabiot, Toomuchmoney, even Guen are all in better form than Kante and Pogba so..

Mbape still have the likes of Ronaldo De Lima,Ronaldinho,Zidan to catch up to and surpass their achievements before joining the GOAT club.
He is still yet to win ballon d'or and champions league.
World Cup or no world ,C.Ronaldo is still far ahead of him in GOAT conversation .

Messi
Pele
Maradona
C.Ronaldo

1 wc can't make Messi displace Pele. Fact.

He wasn't even the best in tournament but because FIFA see him an a Italian descent of Argentine, dem dash a motm and best player of the tournament.

Even the game against Croatia, he was not the best player but dem dash am.

Since when Ronaldo won the 2016 euros you all dragged Messi with international trophy for years till he won the copa America ,and now the World Cup

You Ronaldo fans that trolled and disrespected Messi all over the years will pay for your crimes
ha ha ha ha,. I love happy endings

If Mbappe calm down, na him and Harland go take over the mantle from Messi and Ronaldo. How I wish Harland was also from a footballing nation. That said, I hope Vinicius Junior will give both a run for their money.

That even drive home my point. I think the squads quality drives him more than his coaching talent. They just stopped playing after the second equalizer. It was terrible to watch. No fight at all.
squad quality is the reason for his success right? But when we say the same thing about Pep fight go start

By one man(Higuan), Messi failed in 2014.
By one man(Martinez), Messi succeeded in 2022.

Argentina won this World Cup not because of Messi but Martinez.

I will say Vinicius is one outsider from mbappe and haaland that will give them a run for their money. Another good mention is Bayern’s musiala
