Well, tactical acumen is synonymous with tiki-taka. . Maybe tactical is a derivative of tiki-taka. Mujtahida: |

Mujtahida: The point is very simple. France had enough ammunition to take out Argentina. At the time they equalized 2-2, it was time to go for the jugular. Unless you will say France were solid after the equalizer, you are arguing against plain facts. France were poor after the equalizer. Their build up plays were awful. They gave away possession to Argentina carelessly. Despite the quality in the French side, Deschamps could not get them to attack. The point is simple. Telling us he reached Finals is known by the whole world. Unless you are disagreeing with a simple point that France were poor after their equalizer, your argument is not in line with the point. It is incoherent. 1 Like |

Mujtahida: Nigeria legend Ifeanyi Udeze has explained why France lost in the final of the 2022 World Cup against Argentina on Sunday. “France’s approach, in the beginning, was wrong. They could have started the game with the intensity with which they played the second half,” he told Brila FM as quoted by Daily Post. “The solution was to attack, attack, and attack the Argentines. They were not supposed to relax if there was to be a change in fortunes earlier. They were playing ‘serere’ football and that wouldn’t help you. https://www.goal.com/en-ng/news/world-cup-why-france-lost-to-argentina-in-the-final-udeze/blt3a4402577421c194 1 Like 1 Share |

Mujtahida:France has always been a team that have a huge pool of players. In France 98, Aime Jacquet went without Ginola, Cantona and some key French players and won the World Cup. The point is his approach was weak. From Udeze's statement, Deschamps was weak in his attacking approach in the first part of the game, which led to France taking the lead. When the went to attack, they put two past Argentina and equalized. From my observation, he then went back to his weak attacking setup and Argentina led again. My point is, with a more formidable attacking setup, this French team can become lethal and better. 1 Like 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe:Of course I agree with Udeze but there were extenuating factors. Giroud was in doubt for the match and I read it here on Nairaland the case of the strange virus that infected the French. Bottom line Udeze never said that Deschamps lacks tactical acumen. The irony is that the same you who crowns Enrique whose team is internationally certified as boring is saying that Deschamps lacks tactical acumen. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:Then you put your point across poorly when you say that the coach lacks tactical acumen and he should be excused. Every once in a while good coaches flip. It has happened to gaudiola more than once. Would you then say he's lacks tactical acumen. Criticize Deschamps approach. That's fair given the game we saw but going overboard to say he lacks tactical acumen and that he should be removed is to demean his achievements. France had a good pool of players but were knocked out first round of the 2002 world cup. They had a good pool of players but Domenech did not achieve anything with them. England since the mid 2002s has had a good pool of players. They've even been coached by illustrious coaches like Capello. Their achievements are nowhere near the French. So having a good pool of players is one side of the coin. The other side is getting CONSISTENT results with them. Deschamps record is consistent with great results. The French know better. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:What you said from the onset that riled me is different from what you are saying now. Deschamps lacks tactical acumen. He should be excused. His team plays bland football. The way he set up the French the team in the final is criminal. Please show me your criticism of gaudiola when his tactical errors in the champion's league final was widely acknowledged. Did you call for him to leave Man City? No! Your biases will not let you. I bet if France were to play the drudgery of your preferred tiki taka, no matter how boring it is, you'd be here hailing Deschamps. You are the champion of boring football aka tiki taka and you no suppose label France as boring. |

Mujtahida: You are literally just attacking and not analysing. I have broken the points down for you and you have not addressed one point. The point is simple. Deschamps was docile as soon as France equalized and had enough ammunition to take out Argentina. They need someone with a sharper acumen to make the most of the offensive firepower of France. This is not about a game but inability to make the team fire on all cylinders. Guardiola has had the team creating the most chances in Europe. So tell me how you can criticize that. 1 Like 1 Share |

Mujtahida: France has had a good pool of players for ages. The point is beyond poor tactical set-up. It is about the inability to get the team to fire despite Argentina being there for the taking. In summary, weak tactical acumen. Finito. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:Show me where I attacked. I am making my points forcefully . So make your own points because You didn't break down any points. You'd say a goat is a cow. When it's pointed out to you that a goat cannot possibly be a cow, you'd say no, it's simple that a cow is a goat. This is the point: from the way France played yesterday, you went over and beyond criticizing his tactics for that particular match(which is justified) to saying that he lacks tactical acumen and that it's time for him to go. Haba. If another person puts forward this statement, I might not contest it but it should not come from you. It shouldn't. Thank God, Julien Laurient says that Deschamps will be stupid to go away. 1 Like |
