Not good enough. Now he goes free. There ought not to be any shitty option of bail, fine or plea bargain as far as corruption is concerned in Nigeria given that all these have simply been leeways these highly placed but indicted crooks used to escape justice.

There is serious need for the legislation to upgrade this punishment to outright capital punishment of death by hanging or firing squad. This is the only option that will really instill sense and fear in the future aspiring corrupt people especially politicians.
The legislatures are the biggest thieves. U think dey will make law that will affect dem cheesy
Nigeria need to scather abeg

Paying the fine however does not erase the fact that the DG PCC of the labour party is a convicted criminal.

This is the New Nigeria those zombidients were championing.

A criminal whom Obi choose as a VP placeholder and DG will definitely be instrumental to key official appointment in Obi's utopian government.

One of the presidential candidates, a near dead man forfeited 460,000 Dollars.
What's your bigoted take on that?

Atleast Peter Obi is not the one in question here.

I do not in anyway support corruption, but when you want to talk about Corruption, focus on whoever committed the crime.

So you collect 200 million and then pay 13 million as fine?

Or has he been made to forfeit the 200 million?
Or am I missing something here?
Oga, I just read what he was convicted for. He received money in cash, over the limit of 5m against the money laundry act. It did not say he stole money. Monies in question was used to run his office, but altimately he is not a bank or financial institution.
This judgment is a technical strike and can be used successfully on anybody.
If okupe was convicted of stealing 200m, he will not be given option of fine of 13m to pay but jail term.

Okupe used 13 million from Labourers account, donated by gullible Obi supporters to settle PDP fraud case..

No wonder Obi PDP Lite said he share same Ideology with PDP Pro max..

Ideology of thieves and failure.

Una no dey read before commenting.

That's not the case here. He wasn't found guilty of stealing or anything. His only crime was receiving in cash more than 5 million. This is against the law
Surprising people don't read. It's just the flashy headlines they want to see and scream about.
His only crime was receiving 5m in cash of which 100% of politicians, civil servants etc will all be convicts of this partern were followed. Chief amongst them, those that have personal bullion vans.

He said the guy collected money. He's implying the guy stole or looted. He was paid 200m for some specific services over a period of time. The court has no issues with the payment but how the payment was made. If the payment had been made with cheque or bank transfer, the court wouldn't have had any issues with him.

This is the problem with the judiciary in Nigeria, a known thief who has stolen so much money is allowed to go free and continue to campaign for another known thief.

See how corruption can confuse the mind? ... your brain failing to accept what your eyes just read. Don't worry... you're not the only one asking the same questions.

The money was authorized for him by the then president. So it's not illegal money per se
Where he fell short of the law is the mode of collection

That means we would have done Tinubu's burial since 2019 or beyond because that one is a moving bullion van.

The said crime Doyin Okupe was convicted of, Bola Tinubu has committed it severally but the Buhari government looks away.

Even Ganduje committed worst.
