But hausa/Fulani have had gays and cross dressers for many centuries and they are known locally as Yandaudu. This story feels made up by Hisbah police, I believe they were framed up. First, homosexuality is clearly not accepted in Nigeria, talkless of the North with Shari'a laws. Secondly, a gay marriage attended by mostly females, that sounds off. Thirdly, this sounds like a case of false accusation, the hisbah police just want to deal with this group of youths, probably for not cooperating with them about something. Probably they've been trying to sleep with some of the ladies in the group. Finally, if true, the gays should know better, that there's no loyalty among sissy gays, they were snitched on. I pray they get vindicated,. According to the federal criminal code in the South,
charter 21, section 214, there must be carnal knowledge (14 years). Section 215 says there must be an attempt to have carnal knowledge (7 years). Section 216 says there must be gross indecency/making out (3 years).

In the penal code which applies to the North, section 284 says there must be an intercourse (14 years). Section 405 criminalizes cross dressing and male prostitution (one year, fine or both). This section also identifies incorrigible vagabonds aka serial offenders (2 years, fine or both).
