Haba why are you talking like this? Can't you see the employment opportunities? This is serious job creation and food on the table of Lagosians at a reduced price. Can we just put sentiment out of this?

There is no sentiment here. I asked an objective question. If your answer is "Yes", then thank God. If your answer is "No", well , God help us all (APC,PDP,LP,NNPP,SDP,ADC e.t..c and "Independents", like me)

Is it financially sound producing the rice in Kebbi and then transporting it down to Lagos to be sorted and bagged? I think it would have better situated closer to the farms, to save on transport costs.

5,0000kg transported to Lagos unbagged is same as 5,000kg transported to lagos bagged. Same transport cost.

Rice farmers in the south west sell to Lagos while Lagos will complete the process to bagging.

The rice issue in Nigeria isn't about
rice processing. The problem is that
bad policies of the Buhari administration
coupled with the unsolvable security
wahala, farmers aren't, or don't have
the capacity to produce enough rice for
the rice mills.

This is why prices of food produce
keep rising without check.

Eventually, many of the
mills will close down due to low availability
of paddyrice

The greatest threat to Nigeria is Ignorance

The APC administration had one plan in stages.

- Research centers and seed developments. We have created seeds that can reach its full growth in half the time partnering with Israel and other countries. APC Buhari Govt have also invested in international training for our young farmers.

- Transport to move goods and services (Eko DeepSeaport, Cargo Airports, Rails and Trains, BRT and Roads

- Build processing centers so we won't be exporting cheaper unprocessed foods and be buying imported food. Lagos is building the largest storage and certification center to export food abroad.

- Diversify - Focus on Agriculture, Gas pipelines under construction, and crude oil

- Last leg is mechanized farming and commodity trading...you can't expand agro farming without storage, transport and processing.

The goal is to have Nigeria, the largest economy in Africa, feed the rest of the Africa. We have the funds, our democracy is more stable, we have our guy as the head of AfBank and our lady at the World Trade. We definitely don't have an informed media, so you have to do research to piece all these things together.

You're intelligent. Moreso, it allows Lagos to rebag both foreign and local rice by virtue of proximity to the port.

Still baffles me how this is news
With a country of over 60 years of independence

What should baffle you is how the previous government depended solely on imported food to feed the nation.

I don't care how much rice is sold, so far it is produced locally.

Help grow businesses, halps farmers, provides employment and help the naira.

Way to go

Nice one.
To his credit Oviedo News on Twitter has been posting rice mill openings and other completed projects from around the country on his handle for years. All positive info. Invest a few minutes and go check out his posts.

Also let's give GEJ credit for starting the rice growing and milling initiative and PMB for continuing this very important national food self sufficiency project.
Everyone NLer that picks up a fork and spoon today should think about this a have some national pride. wink

Nice

Let's be sincere, everything good in lagos is privately owned from foreign investors and local businessman nationwide doing big things in lagos.
when you look at what the government owns and runs, that is if you find any it is a sorry state.

But yet someone is saying he built lagos.

He attracted foreign investors how?
With no electricity
No security
Bad roads

Man cannot fix electricity in a mega city with internal generate revenue of 60 billion tueh!
Lagos state government built the rice mill what are you insinuating?

So a die hard cursed criminal that looted over N250 million cash monthly from Anambra coffers using his governor's convoy for good 8 years is now an innocent man.
May it never be well with you if Peter Obi was indeed caught looting over N250 million naira cash.

Bryan88:
a typical urchin reasoning...how this take concern Obi? No be ur Tinubu and his urchins like u dey claim say em develope Lagos as a whole? So i was only askin a simple and harmless question but being a typical urchin u are without brains, u likened it to an innocent man.
