Well... Women have severely limited rights in Saudi Arabia as well. It is only recently women got the right to drive. Women cannot move around unaccompanied. And if I recall, a woman must get a male signature before she can travel abroad. I read some story of a woman asking her teenage son to sign for her. I'm not sure how much better it is for women today, but like 20 years ago Saudi women had no life per se.

So the judge played the role of Pontius Pilate few days to Christmas grin

Like the judge is practically saying ; “ evidences before me does not prove Emefiele is involved in terrorism financing and such I can’t grant u arrest warrant. However, if u still wish to arrest this man (like others u’ve been arresting without warrants in the past); please do go ahead “

To education?
Yes Islamic women have limitations against men but not to education or knowledge

What's the point of education if I can't use it though? Though this was before. Not sure of now.

The judge knows in Nigeria there’s rule of law (which he’s a part and parcel of ) and then there’s rule of force (which the DSS can use to break into his apartment anytime they so wish )

He no want trouble at all .

Islam encourages seeking knowledge but for women, a number of conditions must be met before they can be allowed to go to school based on the conservative Islamic doctrine of Wahabism, which is the closest today to how Muhammad practiced Islam.

Some of those conditions include: Women are forbidden from appearing in public places without a mahram (a male they can't marry); women are forbidden from relating or mingling with the opposite sex (ikhtilat); women are forbidden from talking in public.

That's why in Sunnah, women get more reward observing Sallah (prayer) at home than attending masjid (mosque).

Taliban, Salafs, Ahlu Sunnah are few of the sects practicing like 10% of real Islam in modern times as Muhammad and his Sahabah (companions) did in their lifetime.

If you see real Islam, you'll shudder in fear.

No wonder while I was in the north I never saw Muslim women pray in the mosque for one mosque wey dey close to me. In fact on Friday when people line-up for prayers from the mosque till the main road (which they usually block from traffic ) , I never noticed any female amongst them.

Meanwhile , in Lagos while in school, it’s a female course mate (whom we refer to Alhaja because she covers her hair ) that usually call other male course-mates to let them go for 2pm and 4pm prayers o.

Obviously, the northern part of Nigeria being Sharia states are more strict with following Islamic injunctions than the southern part, especially Yoruba.

Considering the fact that Muhammads first wife was khadija - a wealthy, self made widow who basically hired him, I beg to disagree.

And school as we know it did not exist at that time.

Khadija wasn't a Muslim then
She accepted Islam when she got married to the prophet

Women sought knowledge in Muhammad's time obeying what we call Sharia conditions today, some of which I mentioned earlier. That's a fact.

It's not debatable, oga.

This is the story of Nigeria Las Las. Small power or illusion of power and everyone runs mad. Abducting lecturers children. That on its own is enough to get you locked up

I have classmates that were among those abducted by rioting students that time. Imagine parents knowing your 9yr old is in the hands of rioting students

I must say, you really are well read to the tenets of Islam. You very well understand the danger that organized religion poses to the fabric of society, but then one is forced to ask, how can't you see that clinging on to tribal and cultural affiliations also hampers our ability to unite and harmonize as one?

A system of actions and consequences. One where failure is punished and something is done when one fvcks up, not one where it is rewarded and tolerated.

I've never doubted that an Obi presidency is the best thing that would happen to this country..
The Foreign media is observing and taking notes of the political revolution taking place in this country. Foreign investors are keenly watching to see if Nigeria takes a different path from the one it currently is on.

Lols, you've started promoting the English culture again. Why are you clinging to the culture of the colonial masters in place of your traditional culture?

Is your traditional culture barbaric and evil as some say?

Do the English promote (or even know) the Ibo culture?

In an ideal world, each person follows their own culture but respects other people's cultures, not denigrate their own culture and praise others' like you're doing.

It's not reasonable and reeks of slavery mentality.

And I'm telling you my culture is jackshit and irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Geestay, do you know that every year that passes, many cultures in Nigeria die off? Many languages die off and people adapt to the bigger one closest to them?

And there is nothing wrong with this. If in the next 50 years, all Nigerians now speak only English and our country becomes a top5 global economy and our grandchildren get to live in a viable and prosperous country, will you still complain??

Yes, English and Spanish are the 2 main colonially inherited languages of a lot of country, but do you hear them complain?

Brazil and India are 2 of the richest and biggest economies in the world today, do you hear them still complain about British and Spanish colonization?? Do you see Brazilians scrambling to learn Amazonian languages??

We need to move on from primitive mode of thinking and that includes tribalism and religion.
