Let me ask you a question using a real life scenario amongst us.
Ibime, I love you man, please permit my example here.

Ibime is an ijaw man by birth, but who emigrated, studied fantastically abroad, did well for himself, married a white lady, has mixed race kids and is enjoying a very fulfilled life.
I'm sure this Ibime doesn't give jack shite about the ijaw tribe. Doesn't bother to promote it in anyway seeing as it is totally inconsequential to his life.

Now tell me, do you think that ibime who is now successful by virtue of his own intellect and hardwork is a "slave" to the Whiteman?

I mean his children would also most likely get to follow in their father's footstep and do well for themselves and not give a damn about ijaw tribe, in your mind do you think that their adaption and acculturation to life is equated to slavery because they don't care about the ijaw tribe?

Regionalism or breakup is the way to go. I don't believe in one Nigeria, and Nigeria isn't one.

Nigeria is a failed British project.

Okay then, soo how many parts do you think Nigeria should be broken into and what language do you think should be the lingua franca of the newly formed country?

If Nigerian is broken up, how many countries do you think it should be broken into?

How can this be done exactly??
The fact is this, Nigerian tribes are dieing a slow death and it's absolutely natural. People who used to speak predominantly one language before are now Multilingual or adopting our general language which is English and there's nothing wrong with it.

For our society to advance, we have to have common footing or common grounds. For that to happen, our different identities have to be shed. You can see now that our greatest cultural exports now are our entertainment. And it is not represented by any single tribe but by Nigerians of all denomination.

I was surprised when my relative who was born in America was telling me how he massively enjoys sabinus comedy and our afrobeat. These are now the modern units of "Nigerian culture" not tribal anything.

Any tribe that wants to go should be allowed to. The forced marriage isn't working.

And if we want to coexist as one, we should go back to regional government.

Each tribe adopts their language, and if they need to communicate with other tribes, they use the local language or English.

English is secondary to my culture (and language) and will always be.

I will never trade my culture for anything.

Today, the world's population is 8 billion people, according to Worldometer. As of today, there are roughly 1.5 billion English speakers in the world.

That means about 19% of the world are English speakers, yet this man wants the remaining 81% to abandon their culture and adopt the ways of the English people, including the roughly 1.1 billion Mandarin speakers.

He's literally saying the whole world should come under the English rule.

Nigeria already has a common tongue which is English/pidgin, but it seems you're advocating for a complete erasure of our individual cultures to create some form of mashed up new culture. This is neither possible nor practical, and if you have to harp on and on about us having a common culture, you have to back it up with facts.

Several Nigerian regions are the equivalent of countries in themselves, how has having a common tongue/culture significantly benefited the Igbos, Yoruba's, Hausa's, Fulanis, or even the Ibibios?

Outside Nigeria, the most homogeneous countries in the world, where do they rank in the list of most successful countries?

Nigeria would break up into as many regions as can remain functional, I suspect at least 4. The more homogeneous places can adopt their common language (e.g. Yoruba/Igbo) and the less homogeneous places will adopt English.

FG has already approved the teaching of subjects in primary schools in indigenous languages. It'll still get to higher classes with time.

A number of Nigerians are already writing Physics, Math, Chemistry, and Biology textbooks in local languages.

The US-based educator, Dr. Fakinlede Kayode, I posted earlier created the wonderful project, Yoruba Science and Technology Encyclopedia http://yoruba-scipedia.wikidot.com/ teaching science in Yoruba language.

How is that a pipe dream?

The Association of Educators of Science and Technology in Yoruba Language (AESTYL) has been campaigning for the same thing for the past thirty years.

Millions of educators around the world teach STEM in their mother tongue.

How is campaigning for teaching STEM in local languages a pipe dream?

There's an overseas organization called NativeScientist https://www.nativescientist.com/ that promotes teaching of science in native languages.

I've posted one of their articles here.

How is campaigning for teaching STEM in local languages a pipe dream when it's been a reality already for millions of people around the world?

Many of the world's renowned scientists learned and did science in their mother tongue.

Do you know what a pipe dream is? It seems you don't.

This is a public forum for discussion, if a particular discussion is not to your taste or liking, why not just simply ignore?

Anytime I make any post whatsoever, I'm sure to count on Darlington quoting me to type rubbish. If it's not fool, it's gay, if it's not gay it's something else. Like bro, ejoor.

Okay now we're talking, but the question still remains unanswered, what are the 4 regions Nigeria should be broken into??

Nigeria has about 20 different tribes with at least 5 million people.
Take Benue state for instance, the 2 major tribes there are tiv and idoma and these 2 tribes hate themselves, do you think they would like to be together in a new country together?
What of Benin people in Edo, they were practically a kingdom before, what if they seek to be a new country?

What about the tribes of the riverine South south; the kalabari, the ogoni, the isoko, the itsekiri, the Anan, the Ibibio, the urhobo etc etc. All these tribes with at least 5 million people, should they be new countries if they seek to?

So I ask again, how practical will the break up of Nigeria be and into how many components, seeing as Nigeria has over 700 indigenous tribes?

My answer is clear enough. Nigeria should be broken up into as many regions as possible. Any tribe that wants to seek self-determination and leave the union should be allowed to.

I say NO to forced marriage.
