I just read the Thisday appraisal of the 2023 elections and their claim that Northwest is the battleground or would determine who becomes president and couldn’t help but shake my head at their clear mischief.

But I know what they are doing… they are trying to water down the effect of recent ANAP poll which projected an Obi victory as against the candidate of the owner Thisday/AriseTV Media Group which is Atiku Abubakar.

However, it is so appalling that a media platform like Thisday will deploy its platform to sell a clearly skewed narrative with no iota of reflection on the reality on ground.

For a better understanding of the reality of the 2023 elections, let’s do a very quick and brief appraisal of the different geopolitical zones in the country and how they are likely to vote to better understand why Northwest is not the battleground that Thisday claimed.

ANAP polls and other reputable polls, and reality on ground, has shown that Peter Obi is poised to sweep Southeast and Southsouth.

Now, because of Christian sentiments and the continued massacre of the people Middle Belt, these people are now understandably leaning towards an Obi candidacy which is why analysts have rightly predicted Obi to win the North Central.

Then add the votes Obi is clearly going to get from other Christian areas like Taraba, Adamawa, southern Bauchi, southern Borno and Southern Gombe in the Northeast; and southern Kaduna and southern Kebbi in the Northwest, with the votes he’s likely to get from all the states in Southwest, and you see clearly why Obi is poised to win the upcoming election at first ballot except you want to lie to yourself.

Because the truth is that whether by Obi’s making or by chance, 99% of Christians in Nigeria has taken the upcoming election very personal and are now sentimental about it.

Now, this is clearly in contrast to Tinubu who as of today is realistically only sure of votes from Southwest states and maybe Borno and Yobe in the Northeast, and Zamfara and Kaduna like Thisday rightly said.

Then there’s an Atiku who has realistically been restricted to some states in Northeast and some states in Northwest while he’s hoping to get some fraction of votes from some Southsouth states which is even looking bleak for him, because nobody talks about Atiku down South.

Kwankwaso is a Kano candidate so talking about him is an unnecessary waste of time.

So, with these things I’ve said here which are very practical and factual, tell me how the election is too close to call.

So, my conclusion is that Thisday is just being mischievous and running away from obvious truth and reality that is staring at them, like most Nigerians who are still stuck in the old ways of doing things but sooner or later, they will all come around and accept reality.

Kwankwaso is not just a Kano candidate. He is wildly popular among young people across the Northwest, and this reflects on the intimidating crowd following him around. I understand why BATstards and Mikanites might try to play down this fact, but why Obidients keep dismissing what is clearly a favourable situation is what I can't fathom.

I read the article from thisday and was disappointed as well. It is audible to the deaf and visible to the blind that Peter Obi is on a clear part to victory. As of now, he is the only candidate sure of winning in three geopolitical zones and doing very well in two other zones outside his core sphere of influence. But like you said , thisday was simply doing a hatchet job for Atiku. I don't even think Tinubu stands a chance. He is simply a clown in the circus. All the same, we wait to shock them.

Jagaban is the president end of discussion.

Who or what is ANAP or this day newspaper?

Detach emotion from the reality and you help yourself from dying of hypertension comes February.

Apart from south east and South South, please tell me the region Peter Obi is popular.

Tinubu has south west to lose.

North East, Borno, Yobe and 25 percent is sure in all other states except Adamawa.

North West, Zamfara and he's getting minimum of 35 percent in the rest.

North Central, Kwara, kogi, Niger and getting minimum of 35 percent in others.

Don't also forget that a 25 percent in northern states is more valuable than the votes in the east as an absolute winner.

I remember vividly when I told you that aggrieved northern Christians are supporting Obi and G5 group you called me baby politician it's now obvious don't worry more are coming grin

Many factors working against Tinubu
*APC mismanagement of nation economy and high insecurity across the country, people can't travel by roads, or rail, cost of air transport is on highest price since the creation of this country travelling by air in 2015 from East to Lagos that was around 18k is now 90k, East to Abuja is now 70k, Land transport very expensive, every commodities increased to 300%, people are suffering, I doubt if you are in this country, Nigerians will aggressively vote out APC

* Muslim-Muslim ticket will affect his chances in Southwest, South-East, Middle Belt and Christians in far north who are going through a lot with insecurity
*Old age and fragile health will work against him

* Oluwale falsification of his identity and drug cases

Many bad factors working against him

Those around him are just milking him

Third position await Tinubu

I want to ask you a simple question…

If you were from Southern Kaduna, and about 40 persons from your place were massacred and not a word from either the Federal Government or the State Government all led by APC…

Would you vote same party in an election or vote the senior brother of your killers who is most likely going to continue to shield those killing your people?

Can you stake with that Pandora is winning any state outside south east and some states in South South?

Keyboard warrior.

I've lived all my life in the north, Obi's influence here is absolutely next to nothing and no one win the presidency without a significant showing up North.

Jonathan got 25% in all the northern states in 2011 and all the south Western States.

Be truthful to yourself, can Obi get a fraction of the votes Jonathan got not in 2011 but in 2015 despite all the structures and money spent?

No shishi, no structures equals to no votes.
This is Nigeria, only the real candidate wins who must be accepted by majority not ethnic or regional.

Obi's losing the election will be unprecedented despite the social media noise.

We will help ipob to decide whether to die or getting Biafra.

Its very interesting to see your parochial religious assessment of Peter Obi’s chances in the northern part of Nigeria. Just few days ago, all northern Christian groups, including the 19 northern CAN branches have all decided to vote Tinubu. Go and watch the video on Youtube. It was held in Kaduna around Thursday or Friday. It’s going to be a massive shock to you and other religious bigots hoping for a win for Obi based on religious sentiments.

you need to use your brain. Any zone with the highest voters will decide this election.
The north west is having over 22 million voters and 70% of them usually vote.
The south east only have 10 million voters and only 29% of them come out to vote.
The north west will decide the winner.
Mind you, even if the turn out in the south east is 100% they cannot come near the 70% of North West.

If you had little foresight, you would have realized that the problem is that there are 3 strong Muslims jostling for the votes of Muslims. The most Atiku will do is to get about 50% of those votes while Tinubu and Kwankwaso will share the remaining 49%. This is a fact you can’t dispute.

So how do you compare 3 Muslims jostling for Muslim votes to a single Christian jostling for Christian votes in a country where Christians and Muslims are almost of equal numbers?

Tinubu has no reliable pathway to victory in this election. Kwankwaso cannot cut it. He is more interested in clinching Kano governorship under his control than anything else. This is also the reason I laugh when people speak about him stepping down.

Obi's emergence has put paid to what was to be a sure electoral victory for the man you support, Atiku. Guess who your next president is?...

Lol!

Let’s do some little mathematics using your own percentages and statistics…

Northwest has 22 million registered voters. Supposing they are able to do a 70% voter turnout, they will produce 15,400,000 votes. Now, divide 15,400,000 into 3 gladiators jostling for the region’s votes, that’s 5.1million for each of the gladiators. But let’s suppose Atiku will win Northwest by about 70%. 70% of 15,400,000 is about 7million votes. So let’s say Atiku wins your almighty Northwest with about 7million votes.

Now, let’s go to Southeast…
There are about 10million registered voters. Let’s suppose there’s about 60% voter turnout from the zone and not the 100% you said. That will be about 6million votes. Out of that 6million votes, Obi is likely taking about 5.7million votes or 5.5million votes at worst. So Obi wins the Southeast with about 5.7million votes.

Now, calculate the percentages that Obi will do in Southsouth, North Central and Southwest and even in Atiku’s Northeast and see if your confidence is not standing on a shaky foundation.
