Danielnino00:Dividing the league along geographic lines will inadvertently bring along tribal echoes. This is Nigeria where tribalism is the first resort when rationality goes out the window I personally don't buy the distance excuse. Teams logistics is what is in shambles 3 Likes |

Danielnino00:Exactly my stance. Every season since 2017 has begun with exactly this same sponsorship deal story. Transparency isn't as hard as they want to make it look. Even the NTA airing stuff. Will it not be like other wretched picture quality programs they air |

Danielnino00:I like the arrangement as I believe it would reduce costs for all the teams. Also the prize money isn't bad too. The only arrangement I don't like is collaboration with NTA. NTA will abandon the games for political campaigns. Also how about good game coverage, can NTA do that? |

Danielnino00: This is exactly why state governments shouldn't be involved in the NPFL. How exactly do you justify the use of public funds to run a football club with 100M as price money. It would have made more sense if they made money from the sale of players but most of them do not. Gov Wike just gave about 300M to the Rivers team recently as a reward from last season from the public purse, this is exclusive of their monthly salary, travel bonuses, logistical expenses etc. How exactly will the league grow if clubs have an abundance of state funds without an expectation for returns? |

Danielnino00: No. Improvising the league to have geographical slants will take us backwards. It is exactly what CAF is doing at the women's and youth level that needs to stop. 3 Likes |

Odunayaw:100% agreed about the tribe ish. Baba how many states have functional airports, how many states can you travel to by rail, what is the state of our roads etc, yes logistics is in shambles but so is the transportation infrastructure. |

Against all expectations and after being in doldrums for so long after promising so much as a stupendously prolific striker for Arsenal youth . Chuba Akpom has finally come alive it seems he is now the top goal scorer in the Championship that is a feat in itself. He has been around the world and without much impact indeed his last two seasons in the Championship he has been anonymous. What's changed I absolutely don't know is it a flash in the pan and next season he will resort back to his consistent MEDIOCRITY it's hard to say. How many goals will he score before the end of the season, can't predict will his form continue just don't know. Is he better than the larger majority of our strikers firing blanks like KC, Awoniyi, Dennis , Who can tell ❓ Am l SURPRISED yes very much so 1 Like

Odunayaw: You're quite right about the tribalism part, but I don't think a West and east conference league would promote that... our basketball league had something similar like that with Savannah conference and Atlantic conference and it was all good.. The transportation system we have in this country isn't advanced enough, hence most teams depend on road transportation to honour game.. it has proved to be challenging over the years.. I believe cutting travel distance would help somehow... 1 Like |

AndSunGorilla: Odunayaw: I think the game transmission would be handled by another company in HD format...NTA will have the tv right... something like that sha.. But anyhow e be, never trust NTA to deliver a smooth transmission.. something must definitely go wrong.. Thr problem is that there aren't many TV stations willing to take up the deal... In fact, most TV stations in Nigeria these days focus more on political reports than core entertainment... There was a time we used to watch premier league and champions league games on AIT,STV and Galaxy TV... Those days are long gone... 1 Like |

Danielnino00:The state can't just hand over the teams, are there investors willing to buy these teams from the states? I mean we do have a few privately run teams but sustainability is another issue, at least there's Remo Stars, MFM still around. I don't know where COD and Giwa, Ifeanyi Ubah FC, Katsina Utd are now. In the old days we had Julius Berger, Union Bank, First Bank, Iwayanwu ( I murdered the name I apologize), Abiola Babes, Leventis, NEPA etc these were in the amateur league days and the teams were run as cost centers majorly. Now after all my wailing, there's always hope and who knows, we could have some great minds craft something sustainable like Remo Stars now. 1 Like 1 Share |

Danielnino00:Perhaps instead of 2 groups, they could have maybe three or 4 scattered around so while those long arduous trips would still need to be made at least they would be further reduced. It could be a dumb idea, what do I know. |
