I remember only too well the loss of my late lamented tooth of blessed memory. Having just accomplished a few vigorous rounds of hot sex with the beautiful young wife of my hated rich neighbor one fateful July evening, I had already clambered out the bedroom window upon hearing her husband's truck pulling up in the driveway and was lightly tiptoeing my way towards the perimeter fence when the guard dog finally broke his chain and ran straight towards me while barking in a very alarming baritone register that quickly awakened the entire neighborhood. Lady Luck smiled that night because the dog barely missed my calf muscle and instead locked his rabid yellow teeth into my trouser fabric, causing me to hurriedly unbuckle my belt and drop the trousers as a charitable donation to the dog, while I athletically scaled the perimeter wall, regrettably lacerating my overworked blokkos on the barbed wire as I leaped to safety on the other side of the wall. Unfortunately, an enemy of progress had been eating bananas while sitting beside that wall and had simply left the peelings right there on the ground at the very spot where I landed after scaling the wall like an Olympic hurdler, causing me to slip and fall on the concrete ground thereby breaking the single tooth that I was later forced to replace with a fake golden tooth, in a move I described to people who asked as a fashion statement. This story is always traumatic to recall, so I can only hope that Nairaland readers will derive a lesson or two from my tragic experience. 5 Likes |

I have extracted 2 teeth. The first time was excruciating. The second nurse had to caress my dick to calm my nerve. I ended up having erection. It was a bitter sweet experience. |

Amayabor1: Most likely, you belong in the profession. However, the number of quacks in the dentistry arm of the health sector is alarming. Are you aware that even dental nurses are even setting up a clinic and performing operations? There was a time my wife went to a dentist and in the course of their discussion and when she mentioned a place she had been to previously, the dentist told her point blank that the woman who owns and runs the place is just a "mere" nurse at a govt dental hospital. 2 Likes |

Had to remove my last left handside molar. The came with some scary looking injections to anaesthesize the area. The feeling was something else. I still shudder from it till today when I remember. Pulling out the tooth was something else. As the effect the anaesthesia wore off, the process become unbearably painful. Had to tell the dentist to calm down o. Upon the whole matter, I was still able to laugh at the statement my wife made when the dentist was stitching me up. She said my eyes were darting around uncontrollably when the dentist brought out the stitching needle and was trying to use it. I won't lie to you, the thing looked very intimidating. My liver cut. Thank God, I healed quickly and very well 6 Likes |

Esemchi:It's not supposed to be that painful. The other 3 times weren't as painful. Though I suffered a dry socket the 4th time. The site had to be injected, cleaned and medicated and this was just days after the tooth extraction. The pain was almost as traumatic as pulling out the 3rd. |

dominique:I feel that was my first experience(poor dosage), the next extraction I told the dentist that 3 won't help...she ended up dosing me four times before she could remove it. In her words, you are meant to feel pressure not pain...if you feel pain tell me to stop. She was nice. 4 Likes |

I had a dental extraction just three weeks ago at a private dental clinic (Smile Pride Dental Clinic in Ota). Total Price: N23K. (Included consultation fee and Scaling and Polishing). Before the surgery: I had some uneasy feeling and pain in the tooth weeks back. And after salt rinsing, the pain went away. But there was a kind of swollen part that seemed to be filled with pus at the base of the affected tooth. So I had to go to the clinic for help. During the surgery: I decided to go for removal because I didn't plan a budget for the cost they were estimating to test and fill the tooth (the tooth had a kind of hole). I decided to do S&P and then extraction. I was given an anaesthesic injection before the S&P. I started feeling that part of my mouth heavy and numb. Before the extraction, I was given another anaesthesic injection. The numbness and mouth heaviness increased. The female dentist confirmed from me if I was feeling numb there before she started the removal. The removal was painless, except you can feel the pressure of the pulling with the tools. The tooth removed after about 15 to 20 minutes. I was instructed to do mouth rinses with salt and take my medication. After surgery: I started eating all types of food with the other side of the mouth after the third day. About 15 days after, I can now chew with the area of extraction. But the missing tooth affects my chewing experience since it was a molar I removed. The chewing pressure is now on the second side of the mouth. When I have the money, I'll probably fix a denture at the extracted site (learned it's close to 400k or so). But the job at Smile Pride was great. 5 Likes |

It was a painful experience for me. Before my turn, two people were attended to when I came it. They cried and were screaming. I was like, what am I going to do? It was my turn and I sat on an operating chair. I was asked to open my mouth, and they injected that hole in my tooth. I no longer feel my tooth. It was like my mouth was swelling. The next thing, the three ladies brought out their surgical equipment. Screwdriver, hammer, and one other like that. If you see the way they inserted that screwdriver into my tooth ehh Like I owe them millions. The other lady held my head, while the last one handled the hammering. The screw was now deep inside my tooth, she started forcing it out. That's when hell began for me. I wanted to scream, but I remembered the people outside waiting for their turn. If you come out without a cry or scream, people waiting outside will hail you. If you scream or shout or cry, you will get laughed at. I manned up, and they forced that tooth out. After that, they dipped cotton wool inside a methylated liquid and applied it to my bleeding gum. They congratulated me. I went outside and people were hailing me. I went out of the dental office and I saw men who were smoking. They sighted what happened, and I was congratulated in a cloud of smoke. It went well. I was handed my tooth. 6 Likes |

realogk: The guy you quoted is right, normally you are not supposed to feel pain when a tooth is being removed, the pain only comes after the numbing medicine has cleared, which is always at night or after the whole process. |

Most Nigerian dentists are just specialists in removing teeth. Everything is "remove", "extract", "pull out". No dental care! No empathy for patients. They just extract anything extractable and make you toothless - with gum alone. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Wait oh, never knew so many people have had cause to remove their teeth. Some have even removed up to 4 tooth. Una still get teeth for mouth so? Seriously, what's the cause of most of y'alls dentist visitations or problems, is it lifestyle choices or the foods you eat? I've seen ear and eye specialists over the years , don't wanna add no fuckiing dentist to the list |
