Even if you get the dollar account you have to source the dollar yourself to fund the account.
This import- fuelled exchange rate crisis they are talking about could be checkedmeted by banning unnecessary extremely expensive items of luxury. Even though I believed this crisis is brought by what the central bank had made exclusive to elites and the rich. They are the only category of people how can access dollar from commercial banks for medical, school or travelling purposes. Let's them source the dollar themselves and observe what happens.

Yes so what it means is that except you have serious need for the dollars, you don't have business trying to access it.

Previously, with the Naira card, card holders with funds on the account engaged and in impulsive purchases or engaging in currency prospecting

With 20 dollars daily limit? To even get a dollar card it takes months. Whereas you naira card can be ready in one day. Who we offend for Nigeria?

There are not up to 900,000 people taking advantage of the $20.

You sound like you stopped education quickly, what can you use $20 to import?

The best you can do is use it to pay for monthly subscription , or register for something.

I’ve moved my money out of that account and it will remain dormant for at least 2 months. If not for cash I would’ve been ruined.

Valid question, the honest truth is even though our policy makers and politicians are too inept, we have to come to a logical conclusion that our insiable appetite for anything foreign(products, services, education, health care, tourism, investment, pilgrimage....) coupled with our poor export driven economy is the main reason for these inadequate FX.

Una go de blame the people for the problems created by those in power

I am not absolving our rulers but on a wider scale our OVER DEPENDENCY ON everything foreign can't be sustained by our meager FX reserve in view of our exploding population.

With 20 dollars limit, people were using other people's naira card to transact above the limits cheesy

he has a point but the pricing factor is what drives people to buy international. I am up for stimulus for local business and products but for the genuine ones not the ones masquerading and using products to endanger lives

You buy Powerbank in a year in swells up it’s either we make quality or we don’t make at all

You will see a device that’s priced high here but fairly affordable online. Shipping is no longer to the door they want you to come to the office anyway so it’s even great to buy local sometimes. Everyone can make money there is enough space it’s not one or the other. Without a foreign bank you can’t do business internationally forget dom card that you will sign and never see physically lol scam

Shops should please allow for transfers the less cash one uses to avoid scam the better. The old money na that one sure pass USD and pounds is the future.

Contact me for Cruises Worldwide like big boys and big girls that you are. No more penny punchers. We should be aiming to open up our ports for tourism or cruising. Other people embraced ideas.

Do you know the new Mastercard and Visa cards don’t have numbers or a name anymore and some banks automatically add a card when you sign up. But you can only sign up abroad. These extra things are seen as added cost here but are the deciding factor in other countries. It’s time to embrace digital but not the scammer type.
Its not price alone, I only ordered things which are not produce here. BTW one mention one electrical and electronics been produced in Nigeria, the 20 dollar on the card is inconsequential the major importers who made up the bulk of dollar users do not use the naira card. I do buy uk use phone to Nigeria do you expect me to buy 10k dollar items with the small 20 dollar?
This will only affect small users and not in anyway affect the economy.
The bulk of the dollar usage goes fuel import, if there is steady power supply, it will half the need for more fuel thereby cutting demand for dollar, anybody supporting this is an idiot.

Even the powerbank you mentioned are not produce here they are imported and assembled here. If they are serious about fighting importation then they should go for the big guys whether it won't affect everybody. The best way is to encourage local production by giving grant and power supply that is how you fight the good fight.

That’s for those importing to sell in large quantities. They will still sell in Naira and import more and pay high exchange rates we just have a problem remitting payments back on time maybe due to understaffing because one person wants to eat every bodies salary.

Most people will like to save that extra 10k on that iPad even if it means risking it being stolen by the post office but now you can order and ship to GiG but I recommend you ship a lot because of the high cost of delivery we are talking 15k for a dvd

Most banks abroad collect the money immediately and explain the exchange and remit immediately.

Thank God for innovation
The ipad you mentioned, is there anyone produce in Nigeria? The one you see locally are they not imported by a major importer who consume huge dollar? Maybe government should just ban electrical and electronics and cars too. Even the ipad you mentioned can you get it for 20 dollar?
