The things I learnt about South Korea from watching Korean dramas.

I know kdrama is a fictional world where every thing is a world of make believe. However, there are sometimes a mix of reality to a story and we the audience have to separate the real from the fiction.

So these are the things I have learnt:

South Korea is a country filled with beautiful cultures and traditions. I actually started appreciating and loving Nigerian cultures when I started watching kdramas.

Respect is a huge part of their culture. People are addressed and spoken to differently based on their age. The language used for an agemate is different from the one used for an older person, even if the person is older by a year or two.

Drinking is also a huge part of their culture.........though excessively done. But I like the fact that you cannot even have a shot and drive. Their law concerning drinking and driving is different from the US where there is a limit to which you can drink but your alcohol level shouldn't be above a certain limit but in South Korea, they is no alcohol level, just don't have a drink and drive.
Kdrama is a way of life.
I love their attitude towards food. Their food is rich and it's always tempting to me when ever I watch them eat.....and I am not a foodie.

I like how their women don't have to change their last name after marriage. They still retain their father's name.

I am not too sure about this but even adopted children can inherit in a family........which is usually an issue in a country like Nigeria

Bullying is real in South Korea. In their schools and work places. This is heartbreaking.

Their law/justice system favours the rich.

The citizens have too much power in the lives of their celebrities. It's not the companies that cancels a celebrity, its the citizens. Once they cancel a celebrity, companies follow suit.

I hope they don't become 'too American'. I love them because they are different.


I may be wrong in my observations, feel free to correct me and also share what you have learnt about the country.

Finished ‘The Glory’. I enjoyed it

I don't know why I struggle with this female lead's drama. I only saw the first episodes of both Descendants Of The Sun and The Encounter but couldn't continue. I managed to finish Now We Are Breaking Up because I liked the make lead from My Roommate Is A Gumiho. So far, I am not even tempted to start this one.

Other people that I struggle with their drama are

Suspicious Partner's female lead

Park Bo Gum (I think that's his name)

The male lead of Curtain Call

And I few others I can't remember now.

I managed to finish Now We Are Breaking Up because I liked the make lead from My Roommate Is A Gumiho. So far, I am not even tempted to start this one.

The male lead of Curtain Call

And I few others I can't remember now.

Feels like every year there's an ahjuicyy that suddenly breaks out and everyone is suddenly *dramatic gasp* how did we not know he was this hot lol. This year it's the hot husband from the glory. I hope he gets many more roles. The casting for that drama was just great all round

I'm glad big bang and ikon have finally left YG. All that's left is for winner, akdong musician and blackpink to do me a favor and leave. I'll be so happy

Teaser for Kim Tae ri and oh Jung se's horror drama is out. I am so ready. Season 2 of taxi driver also starts next month. I'll miss my girl esom but I'm ready.

My (hopefully) unbiased opinion : changmin & Hyun formed a subunit called homme. They are ballad kings so everything they sing is beautiful including this song.

Infinite's song is great pop. I always listen to it twice lol first the Korean and then Japanese version. I like that it has a rock vibe
