In your quest to find the truth, don’t burn your time and energy on fruitless arguments.

Be honest with one another.

That being said…I’m outta here. Have fun.

Oteneaaron and others viewing this thread, this is one video showing how the 1975 false prophecy affected the JWs negatively. Some JWs even came out to question one of their Watchtower leaders and were carrying placards in front of the Headquarters to protest. I will post the next video in my next comment.

Raymond Franz was a bold man.

Even after becoming a Governing Member, he gave up all the pleasures that came with the position and he spoke the TRUTH to power.

Imagine all these evidences, and one fellow this thread is calling these their horrible LIES "wrong expectations".

Now I wonder what JWs are going to say seeing their fellow brothers and sisters in 1975 in this dire state where they took everything Watchtower said seriously, sold their homes and possessions, stopped child bearing, resigned from their jobs to join pioneering all to see that it was a False prophecy! How do you reconcile this heinous act by Watchtower? How do you keep viewing this Cult as the One True religion after this? How?

Watchtower never apologised for this and never attempted to compensate JWs who were adversely affected by this false prophecy. Instead, they blamed JWs for taking them seriously! But if JWs do not take them seriously, they are called Apostates! How do you keep being a JW knowing everything that happened in 1975?

Do you know what it is to drop the Governing body position because of conscience and decide to expose Watchtower? Raymond Franz was indeed brave! I admire a lot of JWs in the 70s that exposed Watchtower even though the internet wasn't up as at then.

Don't mind Mad MaxInDHouse and the foolish JWs that will deny this. They didn't sell their homes, possessions like the JWs at that time did. They didn't suspend giving birth to children. They didn't stop schooling. They didn't give up anything. They didn't loose anything. If the false prophecies didn't affect them, it is none of their business. Tells you all you need to know about JWs.

The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania has destroyed millions of lives over the past century.

They will pay for their sins, no matter how long it takes, it will happen someday.

A house built on a shaky foundation will fall - no matter how beautiful you paint the house, that building will fall.

A foundation of LIES will never stand the test of time.

Watchtower are already paying for their sins although slow. They have Bethelites in their midst revealing their secrets. They have Child Sexual Abuse cases increasing on their heads. They have their Freemason JWs exposing their hidden Occultic activities as well. They have PIMO JWs in their midst who don't take the Cult seriously. They are selling Kingdom halls, Bethel branches and Assembly halls in different parts of the world. That's a sign of a crumbling Tower. grin

Funny man. grin

Imagine such bald faced whitewashing!

Imagine the nerve to call a proven FALSE PROPHECY a "wrong expectation".

This is just 1975 oo, I have not even talked about 1914 and 1925.

When they prophesied that the world would end in 1914 and it didn't happen, JWs called IBSA at that time were also disappointed because they also sold their houses and possessions. Just imagine Charles Taze Russell started the scam and Watchtower repeated it in 1975. Look at what a former IBSA member wrote to a Newspaper to expose Charles Taze Russell. Same scam, different dates. Just imagine the millions of dollars Charles Taze Russell and Watchtower made during these periods. As JWs were selling their possessions, they were sending the sales money to the Cult. grin Same scam, different dates.

There's one thing evil with WRONG TEACHING:

Students of wrong teachings will never meet up with expected results!

What all these people don't understand is that Benny Hin isn't apologizing for telling people that God's kingdom is coming but teaching his listeners what will never yield positive results!

When Jesus taught his disciples that John the baptist is the promised Elijah Malachi spoke of {Malachi 4:5} they were glad that Jesus is the promised Messiah (Christ) and that's true but then they all had WRONG EXPECTATIONS about what Jesus will begin to do because the scriptures foretold that the Christ will establish the Kingdom of David and rule forever in righteousness {Isaiah 9:6-7} even John the baptist was carried away with the same opinion so when he was imprisoned for preaching what is right and Jesus didn't come to rescue him John sent messengers to Jesus to question Jesus' authenticity {Matthew 11:2-3} Jesus' disciples has been preaching throughout all Israel declaring that the Messiah Christ has come which is true, but what happened due to this teaching?
Many began expecting what Jesus will do in future times immediately and when Jesus didn't do what they expected most Jews concluded that Jesus was teaching heresy so they left and never followed him again {John 6:66} what about those who remained with Jesus? Well after his death and resurrection they still ask him questions about their wrong expectation! Act 1:6

So why do many Jews concluded that Jesus was a fraudster till today?

Is it because Jesus and his disciples were teaching heresy?

Of course it's due to the wrong expectations of those preaching to them! smiley

With the wrong expectations Jesus' disciples had about what Jesus will do imagine so many wrong expectations they would have spread about Jesus!

Does that makes them false prophets or worshipers of Satan? cheesy

Same to you Sir!

At times when critics don't understand what is happening they will raise lot's of alarm but then intelligent individuals need to set matters clear so that sincere people may grasp what really happened.

Jesus is the one and only perfect human worshiper of the true God so he never had any wrong expectations regarding God's program for salvation but as for all other servants of God they all had WRONG EXPECTATIONS.

So why do we believe them that they were true servants of God?

Well it's because they meet up with what the scriptures foretold about them even though they were imperfect and had many wrong expectations! smiley

According to the Bible Jesus promised his disciples that he will return but just as the Jews were confused about his presence in the first century the same happened in 1914.
The prophecy about the Christ said so many things that the Jews can't comprehend easily but noteworthy is what will be happening when he is around:
The blind will gain sight, the lame will walk, the deaf will hear, the dumb will speak and those depressed will hear good tidings that will make them look forward to a brighter future hopefully. This is what Jesus reminded John the baptist when he started to doubt if Jesus is the one they're expecting! Matthew 11:4-5

But the scriptures also foretold of how most Jews will be stumbled due to WRONG EXPECTATION regarding God's plan of restoration so Jesus added:

"Happy is the one who finds no cause for stumbling in me.” Matthew 11:6

Because if care is not taken even John the baptist who is a true prophet of God will loose by speaking abusively of the Christ due to WRONG EXPECTATION!

So what convinced God's people that Christ has returned in 1914?

Note that it's Jesus everyone knew because he's a human having human relatives in their midst until his baptism when he became the Christ and started to fulfill the prophecies foretold about the Christ. So most people never saw the Christ but they heard and saw all the things spoken by the prophets happening all around them that is why Peter and the other guys strongly believe that Jesus is the Christ! Matthew 16:13-16

So in the same manner Jesus who has returned to his spirit life when he returned in 1914 what he foretold as signs of his presence became evident since 1914! Matthew 24:3-14 smiley

Keep sounding the warning in their hearing because Jesus with all his intelligence and wisdom was viewed as MADMAN to most of his contemporaries {John 10:20} Paul the apostle was viewed as a MADMAN by those who listened to him {Act 26:24} so they will be eager to listen to MAX but it's the same thing they will say because a servant is not greater than his master! John 15:20

May you have PEACE! smiley

Good morning Max, how’re you?
Back to the topic. Do you understand what the issue Oteneaaron raised in the context of Jesus’ warnings about his second coming in Matthew 24?

And the specific signs believers were told to look out for?

Before you respond, also take out time to read and understand what Daniel mentioned about the statue Nebuchadnezzar saw in his dream, and also the revelation Daniel had about the various beasts representing various kingdoms that rule the earth before the coming of the son of Man.

When believers truly understand what to look out for, all these setting of wrong time tables for Jesus return will reduce.

If your mom or dad promised you what you need do you offend him/her for often thinking about when he or she will fulfill his or her promise?
Well you can never ever offend your own dad or mum for always anticipating what he or she promised you because that's a sign of trust. But children who don't trust their parents will not like hearing about such promises because they don't expect anything worthwhile as bad children.

So my friend no matter how much God's servants miscalculate the times for what God promised this is what God Himself said:

For the vision is yet for its appointed time, And it is rushing toward its end, and it will not lie. Even if it should delay, keep in expectation of it! For it will without fail come true. It will not be late!

Look at the one who is proud; He is not upright within himself. But the righteous one will live by his faithfulness. Habakkuk 2:3-4

The true God is never offended no matter how eager His FAITHFUL PEOPLE are and their miscalculations to Him they have remained faithful {Luke 21:34} it's proud people who will not like to be noticed as faithful anticipators of God's promises. So when the time to reward those who always keep on the watch comes those who don't want to think about it won't be ready at all and it will catch them unaware because they're never prepared for it! Matthew 25:1-13 smiley

Faithful individuals don't expect perfection in the way servants of God reason all they target is "what are we supposed to be doing presently as worshipers of the true God"

WRONG EXPECTATIONS will never end in the life of God's servants but one thing is peculiar with them all: they are ever ready to join others in working for their God! smiley

I'm not talking about you but the OP and his cohorts, they're the ones setting goals for God's people. From their point of view God's people shouldn't have any wrong expectations they should perfectly understand God's plan for salvation.
That has never been the case with God's people as we can all see in the Bible they had lots and lots of wrong expectations.
One thing they will never stop doing is the assignment given to them, they will never ever allow their disappointment stop them from faithfully carrying out their assignment! smiley
