Please do. That phone is too old.
-weak battery (and you can't even get a genuine battery nowadays for that model)
- you can't even update to more recent versions of ios
- the camera is way below par
- it has 1gb or ram and with the heavier apps on appstore it will be freezing or shutting down apps in the background.

I learnt most banks have suspended their international transactions on debit cards.

What other options are available to me? I need to purchase this storage so I can back up my WhatsApp before downloading and restoring in a new phone.

You'd then be given an account number for your chipper Wallet.

According to the screenshot you posted, you already have a chipper account. The account number they gave you ( where they said money transferred to this account would top up your chipper Wallet ), that particular account number is your chipper account and that's the account you'd use when transferring money to your chipper Wallet.
It's from your chipper Wallet you'd transfer money into your virtual USD and Naira debit cards.
I actually prefer using chipper to credit my phone because they give a 2% discount for every recharge bought.

OK yea I'm at that stage now. But they are asking for passport, NIN and drivers license. Unfortunately I only have my voters card with me. Maybe when I go back my Base in umuahia I will use either my passport or NIN (I have both of them too).

Okay , no problem.
I'd advise you make use of your passport cos the image would be clearer then that of your NIN.
