It is made from grinded maize (almost like semovita) and can be eaten with variety of soups like Egbesese, Ademe, okro, palmnut soup etc. Just that they are not use to our Nigerian kind of soups like eguise, Ogbono, ewedu etc, you can also enjoy this Akume with these Nigerian soups. There are also many other different kind of Togo meals you can enjoy while here.
As for transportation, there are bike riders everywhere and there are also taxis that are relatively cheap and affordable. Almost everywhere seem to have a fixed price so once you know where you want to go and the price, you don't have to argue with any transporter. Lived there for about 8 months when the company I worked for had a project there, it was blissful to say the least, nice friendly people, peace and calm, steady power supply, the few times power was cut off, there were announcements on the TV every hour stating the affected areas and how long power will be off. They have quite a different mentality from we Nigerians and that's because they a french colony but many of them have started traveling alot and meeting foreigners which is really changing their mentality.

There are many Togolese people working or hustling in Nigeria and from there they are sending money to build their own houses and erasing that mentality they once had that Nigerians are evil people.

If you are here, you just be nice and live your life peacefully they will love you and always want to come close to you. But if you try to boast or form as if you are better than them like what many igbo guys do here, they will always want to bring problem to you.

In general Togo is peaceful and cool. The person that said light bill is too high, I don't think that's correct. They have pre paid meter which you use according to your pocket just like Nigeria. You can buy from 200cfa which can last you a day or up to 3 days depends on what you use at home. Their light is constant and security here is very good because they fear their police so much.

There is no much requirement to setup a business here as a Nigerian. It depends on what business you want to do and the only thing is just to pay your yearly taxes at the meri.

Renting a shop is not hard and the price depends on the area or location. You can get shops from 5000cfa per month up to 100k per month depends on the kind of shop and what you want to do. My friend has a bar which he pays 20k a month for the shop, but he actually spent almost a million cfa to arrange the place as a bar so he is only paying 20k per month. There are places you see a place to do a bar like his own and you pay 50k or more per month so it depends on type of shop and location.

Lome has a very almost free shipping port, thats why many neighbors like Burkina Faso, Mali and other land locked west african countries use Togo port. So far so good it's far cheaper than clearing goods in Nigeria.

You can also make more enquires yourself as this one I gave you is from my own personal experience in the country. Many Nigerians here even have ships and shipping companies running things.

Whenever you arrive Togo, try to locate a Nigerian bar and restaurant call M21 along Avepozo express road. Thats a place you can linkup with anything about shipping or clearing to get good info. Even the owner has a ship and runs a major clearing company here in Togo and he is a Nigerian.

There is no such thing as police harassment in Togo. The police are well taken care of by their government so they don't harass people. They just do their work in terms of keeping the country safe so the people fear and respect them because they don't like police wahala.

Unlike Nigeria where someone will just go and carry police to arrest another person without any proper investigation about the issue, here in Togo if you have an issue and make a report at the police station, they give you a paper called convocation which you just go and give the person you have issue with. Them no born the person well not to miss that police invitation. If for any reason you miss that invitation to police station, that is when police will track you and arrest you by force and your case will even become worse for not honouring that first invitation.

Meanwhile if you honour that invitation, unlike Nigeria police that will just throw you inside cell, they don't do such. That invitation is mostly to hear from both sides what happened after which they will just settle the matter and everyone goes home. Except the case is very serious then from police station they transfer the case to court immediately and from court it's direct to prison.

In all their police functions very well that is why their citizens are scared of them and don't like police wahala. This is just police oooo, if you talk of army then you will see how some of them might commit suicide before they even see the army.

There is no such thing as police harassment in Togo. The police are well taken care of by their government so they don't harass people. They just do their work in terms of keeping the country safe so the people fear and respect them because they don't like police wahala.

Unlike Nigeria where someone will just go and carry police to arrest another person without any proper investigation about the issue, here in Togo if you have an issue and make a report at the police station, they give you a paper called convocation which you just go and give the person you have issue with. Them no born the person well not to miss that police invitation. If for any reason you miss that invitation to police station, that is when police will track you and arrest you by force and your case will even become worse for not honouring that first invitation.
