Well, paternity fraud has been there for decades though not openly documented. The more conservative a society is, the higher it is for issues like promiscuity, paternity fraud etc.to thrive well without most folks noticing.

Following this logic: when a man and a woman engage in sexual activity, the man goes home happy most times, while most times (especially) when a barrier or protection is not used, the woman goes home worried.

This happens because the woman carries the burden of pregnancy. Society generally stigmatizes women who get pregnant outside of the confines of marriage.

I understand that both male and females can contact disease if they engage in unprotected sexual activity.

Lets assume for a second that the above statement is not true. That sexually transmitted diseases do not exist.

Based on biology alone, the lady would be more careful so as to prevent pregnancy. Because she alone carries the burden of pregnancy.

This makes females more careful in mate selection, hence they screen for the best mates to maximize pleasure in the short run and maximize protection and care for both herself and her offspring in the long run.
