Right. Superhero genre will remain firm in today's cinema for the next 10 yrs.
True, BA would have made serious bank in 2016/17.
And yes, audience have expected more quality from CBMs. CBMs are simply now moderating in contrast to the time when it was still growing. So any slow downturn, some ppl will start calling it fatigue. As if na everyday be Christmas. grin No be NWH smash everything smashable just a year ago. Ppl easily forget and chronically suffers from recency syndrome.
Avatar 2 release na, everybody dey twerk for Cameron. grin grin

to be fair...No Way Home relied on Nostalgia bait...
I'm sure both Marvel and DC have seen it's effect and we can expect more nostalgia bait in the coming years especially with this multiverse concept...

I haven't seen much hype for The Flash
But I won't be surprised if it truly makes top 10 considering the show surprisingly still has a huge following despite it being utter trash for so many years

The fans of the show alone should make up a good number of movie viewers
I think they will debut a trailer during Super Bowl halftime show. I’m also anticipating the movie, hope they don’t let us down.

I don't care about The Flash.
But maybe a trailer could change my mind. I also didn't care about Ant Man but I saw the recent trailer and now I wanna watch it

It's confirmed. We're getting a trailer Feb 12, Superbowl Sunday.

It's my most anticipated DC film this year. Can't wait. cool
I hope it's marketed the hell right, and the nostalgia bait is used to the fullest by showing more Keaton Batman to audiences.

Nothing concern me with nostalgia or not. It's still a CBM. Top Gun: Maverick heavily relied on it more than anything and I see no one talking about nostalgic bait and even laughably giving it Oscar shouts.
Stranger Things is a success story partly due to 80s nostalgia. Jumanji, the same and Disney is mining that for Indy 5 as well. The Jurassic World franchise as well relied on that and it was used to great effect in the last movie with the original stars.

Nostalgia bait or not, NWH was definitely prolly gonna hit the Billie, especially with Disney marketing and hype. Far from Home hit billion dollar status, so without the old crowd it'd still do big numbers.

This looks more interesting... China's Sci fi mega hit gets a sequel— The Wandering Earth 2. I enjoyed the first movie, great visuals and decent story but this one looks more promising.

I look forward to it.

The first thing I felt seeing this news was excitement, followed by sadness as I remembered that we'd never get the late great Mako Iwamatsu back in the booth to voice Iroh again. Still look forward to seeing some Iroh screentime in the movie cos Greg Baldwin has been a great replacement for the role.

the release date is too far.
What do they need almost 4 years for?

It shouldn't take them more than a year to animate a 2 hours movie

I was excited for the movie when I saw it some days back. But as I calm down look that release date I wan cry. It's too fvvking far bro. I don't know what's taking them that long to produce animated content especially when you remember they specifically created a dedicated studio for all Avatar content. undecided sad

Dedicated studio doesn't necessarily mean you also get a standby score composer and voice actors, as well. Add the fact that this is also not the first movie in their lineup, so they'd most likely have to finish production on that before starting on this.

The real problem would be if the final product ends up not justifying the waiting period.
Remember the recently released Puss in Boots 2 was in production for close to a decade. These things aren't really simple and straightforward at times. The most important thing is for the final product to be satisfactory.

Horrific acts are committed in tense situations so definitely a horror.
It has elements of the absurd so can qualify as a satire or black comedy as well.

Beautiful slate.... cheesy
I hope Kyoshi is also in the works.

Heard Netflix's live action VFX is handled by Weta Digital (probably the biggest VFX company worldwide), they worked on DUNE, Tenet and many blockbuster movies. So it's safe to say at least the live action would have great visuals. Still, the original show producers and showrunners leaving the Netflix project doesn't inspire much confidence.

It's funny how if that show becomes really successful, Paramount has inadvertently handed down Netflix one of their very few big IP. It looks all the more weird especially when Paramount also has its own streamer that's seriously lacking in content and premiere IPs.

Anyways, it's super fun finally having an Avatar extended franchise. kiss
