The 3k agency fee was a scam.

Imagine 35 candidates paying 3k each to get a non-existent job. Doesn't make sense.

Any agency that tells you to pay them for so as to give you a job is a scam.

I've not seen any exceptions. They have their marketers go round the streets and write vacancies they have no links or contacts to and send you there knowing fully well you will not be hired.

Your and countless others have been taken advantage off.
Oga, those agencies collect money. The job seeker pays, so does the employer too. The agency is a middleman.

Good morning Nairalanders
I want to share my experience about the job interview I went for yesterday
Im into catering services but i just decided to look for a job at least to help me boost my income.

A friend of mine directed me to an office in Ojota where I collected a form of 3k with the hope that they will match me with a job.

Unfortunately for me we were about 35 candidate on queue looking for job and the directed me two different hotels , the first hotel is at the back of county hospital Aguda Ogba and on getting there the manager said they have employed kitchen attendant 2months ago and ask me to drop my CV.

The second hotel is around Akinyode Grammar School and the same issue happened again they have employed another person, and at a time I feel dejected but the most funniest part is that I have almost spent the money with me on transport because I'm based at Ketu Lagos..

I'm a type that doesn't know how to beg people for money after trekking for few distance i will wait at the bus stop to look at the conductors face and then plead egbon e Jo e help me and lol and behold I was able to get help from the conductors and this make me feel not all bus conductors are bad.

I got back home safe and I believe soon or later I will get a better job even without going through the stress I went through

Anyone with such experience while hunting for job.

If you have a good camera phone.

Why not start a YouTube channel related to catering or food?

I can feel your struggling spirit.

I lived all my life around ketu. Alapere precisely.

I am not promising anything but you can dm me, lets see if I might be able to help.

I know someone big on catering that you can attach to.

Enjoy

NEVER PAY FOR ANY FORM FOR EMPLOYMENT. NO LEGIT AGENCY WILL ASK YOU FOR A DIME IN EXCHANGE FOR A JOB APPLICATION.

I pray God see you through because to be jobless in this present regime is like one living in hell. Have faith and be courageous, please don't give up. I will advice you to associate yourself with your church members if you are a Christian and belong to one of their societies that doesn't tax their members more , I got my first job through that means after spending on transport and trekking the whole Lagos looking for job.

You're young and full of potential. Explore and exploit the world around you. The opportunities exist, look well. Even if your pastry game isn't game enough there are people out there that haven't told you so, let them have a try. Build and develop yourself now so that even someone employed 2 years ago will be removed to give you space at your own value. Tap into the vast classes, mentors and market that the internet offers. A YouTube, Instagram or Tiktok profile can take round the world. Even Nairaland can become your own office and you your own boss.
Get materials that talk about what you love and how to make money from it. Even if the market for your idea is not Nigeria or Africa, just learn to position yourself between their demand and supply. Have a blessed 2023.

PS. I can give you premium materials that will help you with positioning yourself and your brand on the internet for consistent passive income with your knowledge, passion and skills. Free. I don't know your skill set or passion.

Why are most of you here telling the op to continue looking for a job? @op, you said you are into catering right? Why don't you push that business? Take it head on, advertise it with word of mouth, for now. If you do one and do it well then more business will come your way. Stop looking a 20k job abeg.

Most times this agency are always in cahoot with the company they send you to, it's business to them because they will get the recruitment fee from job seekers knowing fully well that those company do not have any vacancy. You can't call them out for fraud because the company will give you assurance that you will called upon soon so it is all business to them.

Do not pay any to get a job...They are all scammers.

Try this and you will definitely get results
1. Go-to Facebook.....Navigate to the Jobs sections. There are companies that post vacancies on fb

2. Create a LinkedIn profile. If you have one, you must optimize and "enable the open for job option"

3. You can learn a skill.....Becoming a receptive or secretary is not a bad idea though. You will be more fulfilled doing what you love most.

4. Join forum, looks out for good telegram groups. That helped me years back

Flakkypastries .... must you work for somebody? Lay's Potato Chips... a household name worldwide ... started just like you. He began at home ... sold to those around him ... and expanded. He was not out looking for jobs.... he did not start big. You have You Tube at your fingertips ... you have free advice available from people around the world on how to make the best pastries .... why not focus on improving your product and getting it out to the public? ... you only need one customer to begin with... your product is good... word of mouth shall be your advertiser. Or is it you be at home waiting for big contracts? No job will ever worth your time as much as if you spend that time on catering. Focus on putting your product on the market.
