The Labour laws are not the problem, it's the slow judicial process. Check the link below :

https://www.nairaland.com/365622/justice-t-last-supreme-court

Sacked lecturers got justice after being sacked 10 years before the final judgement. 3 of the sacked workers even died in the course of the 10 year legal battle. That is why u will see people rather focus on getting new jobs after being sacked unjustly than pursuing justice in a law court.

This happens in developed countries a lot too

We need to strengthen our labor laws tbh. The way some companies are moving mad is unexplainable.

Once companies start getting class action suit, maybe just maybe we will have some sanity back. Ditto for State Govt that refused to pay their workers their due wages.

Employees should be able to initiate class action suit against the govt.

Another example of a lack of strong institutions which continues to be my biggest issue with Nigeria.

I think we have discussed this in the past. Nigerian labor laws barely protect Nigerian workers. Many companies are exploiting workers because of a lack laws that protect workers.

Government that is supposed to lead by example are the worst. Government workers across all levels are owed months of salaries and years of pension. If they are not owing, their workers are constantly embarking on strike.

The sorry state of our labor laws and its enforcement makes it easy for foreigners to come into Nigeria and in the name of foreign investment abuse Nigerian workers and make them work in the worst conditions.

The whole essence of Capitalism is exploitation of labour. The truth is : for Nigeria to become industrially competitive, labour will still have to be exploited far more than they are experiencing presently.

Economy is down, Zero jobs. Una say make Nigeria enact strong labour laws. Who go invest capital in a (clearly underdeveloped) country whose Government cherishes labour more than the owners of the chain of production?

Dey play. . . cheesy

I must confess that I can't remember a politician campaigning so hard for a supposedly sick man. It's mightily impressive.
Saw him dancing to Buga won the other day. Man get moves for a supposedly sick man.

And before anyone asks if I have picked my candidate, please don't bother cheesy

Sorry man

Which side? Tarzan or Down flyover?
Onitsha robbery just dey increase any how. From bridge, I dey put my valuables for bag to avoid issue

Sometimes last year, 2 guys accosted me at down flyover opposite Faith Motors park. They were dragging my phone and small bag with me but nobody chook mouth. I was ready to die that day because of that phone. Finally, one of their member masquerading as a peace maker joined and asked that I settle them.
Gave them 2500 before they left.

That was the most unnecessary risk I have taken in years .

Tarzan

Your story dey similar with my own, a peacemaker appeared too, the mofo demanded 20k to bring the phone and car parts back, I told him, I'm not with cash, let him bring the phone and I will do transfer.

Las Las he said I should forget it.
