emperorlaqrin:Guy you have tried to warn who wan hear. For the people that think it's easy I pray that they have the opportunity to travel to the UK. After 6 months of living in the UK you can come and educate us on how you don begin make 3000 pounds a month. I read about how some people are trying to recruit Nigerian teachers to the UK for 28,000 pounds a year salary and I smiled at that. It's only reality that can teach some hard headed people. 7 Likes |

You're very wrong. Even the analysis the person you quoted originally is not far wrong, in reality, when you factor in the likelihood of earning far more than the estimated income he used in his calculation. Anyway, I'm not trying to convince you - I couldn't care less. I was just amused by how aggressive you were about something you could have confirmed for yourself with 2 minutes of googling. Best of luck in your Canada plans. |

GreatChizzy: I was looking for someone to say this. I honestly don't understand all the hullabaloo about tax tax tax that people say all the time. It genuinely boggles my mind. Maybe when I'm in the highest tax bracket sha but how I cannot even complain about tax now when everyday I go out I can clearly see the benefits of that tax. Immaculate road systems with multiple smooth-running transportation options (not perfect yhh), free recreational facilities, health, security that I often go to sleep without locking my door, etc etc. When I was in Naija I had to run gen almost 24/7, had my own borehole for water, built fence so high it's like xxxxxx yard, cannot travel to meet anyone in any city where there's no airport because of fear of kidnapping on the roads... How on earth will I now be complaining about tax here instead of focusing on working hard to increase my earnings? Na wah for people o. My conclusion is that people want to enjoy the best but do nothing to contribute toward it. 6 Likes |

[quote author=Zahra29 post=120073003] Really?! All this misinformation is quite startling You could say that the rate of council tax varies by county/location, but all parts of the UK are subject to council tax Someone in Northern Ireland said they don't pay council tax. He is right |

sharpwriter:I don Japa from UK a long time ago but from what I know, 28,000 pounds go fit survive a single person in London depending on the part of London you live, it's almost the same with the bigger cities in the UK. 28,000 pounds gross income equates to about 24000 or 25000 after tax, then after you remove other expenses Na him you go know what you can save. 2 Likes |

This one Nigerians in the UK are trying to discourage other Nigerians from japaing, that means if one finally succeeds, na to avoid them, mind your business because I doubt if they will be accommodating. The only people enjoying Nigeria are politicians, criminals, and probably the civil servants, here no jobs anywhere, unless you know somebody who knows somebody, talk less of basic amenities. |
Re: Advice To Every UK Japa Crew by Thortp(m): 11:08am On Jan 16, 2023 |
Don't mind him. I pay 23% tax in Nigeria #FACT, which would have been deducted before salary payment, what about Union dues? Not to talk of electricity bill, petrol for generator and you will still service/repair the same generator oo, or else food kept in the fridge/freezer get spoilt (NEPA). Children school fees o and transport inflated by agberos. Hospital? don't even go there. Now food and daily provisions. Yet they complained about UK tax as if we don't pay all in Nigeria. Mention one thing we gained from tax paid over the years in Nigeria. Even as a oil producing country. SMH They won't mention stability of what you paid for in same UK and how cheap food is compared to Nigeria. Well, everyone should do what suits them. henro757: 2 Likes |

As for the bills, we don’t pay water or council tax here. Before this cold, my electric and gas bill is usually 80pm now it’s around 160-180pm so all those scary figures dude is chuncking out of the air is funny 7 Likes |

We don't spend dollars in the UK. If this happened in the UK, the doctor must be self employed and was not paying tax. It is likely he was trying to cut corners. Tax are deducted from the source if you are not self employed and have only one job. Those that are self employed or doing more than 1 jo always reserve the money for tax to be deducted at the end of the year. Even for high income earners. Tax deducted will usually be about 25-29% of your income. Most countries in Europe deduct the same amount of tax. In some provinces in Canada, you even pay more tax than UK. Mandem05: |
