Biggest singles of the 21st century? That’s some claim there. If, from Africa or Nigeria is added to the assertion, perhaps.

They both have massive reception. This is not a question about the quality of the song or personal preference. There are clear indices to know which song is bigger.

Calm down has more than double the views of Buga on YouTube. It probably also has more than ten times the streaming Buga has.

However there is Gangnam style which has billions of views and streams, far more than Bob Marley’s One Love, but the song, One Love is a bigger song in respect of how enduring it has become.

It won’t be out of place to argue as well, that streaming may not be the best indices to measure how great a song is, and whether we have presidents or leaders of nations dancing to Buga, it may also not be the best indices.

Time will answer the question.
