Just look at the people on this thread as a microcosm of American politics in general. All they do is here is fight, post damaging and disparaging information about members of the opposite party and try to one up each other. No one has ever posted to say this is how republicans and democrats can work together to achieve XYZ for the American people. It’s all fight fight fight January to December.

That country does not have a functioning government anymore as far as I’m concerned. This is why China will soon overtake them. Becuase say what you want about the Chinese, their system of government ensures for unity and harmony amongst all those in power which gives the government great focus and the ability to achieve things much faster without any hindrance or opposition. American bureaucracy and the ultimate will for power from both sides is slowing things down.

And I also think that democrats tend to over regulate in governance leading to severe bottlenecks.
I think it's just a pity that Americans are severely limited to two choices.

Every time I leave Nigeria, I thank God for American regulations. Just saying. Some regulations can be onerous, but generally they protect the business and consumers alike. Look at that condo building that came down in Miami. I'm sure the residents wished they had better regulations/building codes.

There are some Democrat counties where before you are granted license to build your structure, you have to commit to some tree planting endeavours. Of course that's an additional expense added. In some California suburbs, some "carbon neutral" premises are included which include additional costs for the developer. All these are what adds up to homes being soo expensive or out of reach.

If you watched that video, Bill Maher is pointing out the efficiency of China in getting these done and the extreme difficulty for the US in getting things done.

When does regulation become over regulation? But China's efficiency in getting things done vs the US is more a debate over Democracies vs autocracies. Every 4 years we have new elections which may usher in a new leader with new priorities. China has a leader for life who directs what he thinks should be the national priority for as long as he is alive. And we also have an incalcitrant Republican party which doesn't seemed interested in actually governing. I keep asking people what legislation Republicans have passed int he last 20 years that have helped America.

Also, part of China's success is it's low standard of living compared to developed countries. When it's citizens decide they longer want to work as modern day slaves, that'll effect China's manufacturing industry and Chinas pocket book.
