This morning, I went for a job interview for the position of a customer care representative. I stammer actually and I knew it was likely I wouldn't get the job. I met with their HR and we had conversation and during the conversation he asked if I was a stammerer and I answered in the affirmative, then he told me that I can't work as a customer care representative in their company due to my deficiency. I jus waka jeje comot there.

My 30yr old younger brother has been in a relationship with a lady, an auditor at a big four firm in Nigeria.
He recently reached out to me that the lady put in long hours at work, sometimes get home by 10pm, sometimes 12pm and he is not sure if he would be able to cope with such work-lifestyle.
My question is: have you got anyone who married a big 4 female consultant ?
What has their experience been like?
Would you advice him to continue the relationship or look for a family oriented woman?

Hello, I have seen lots of them got married to big four ladies. The hours are usually long, especially if she is in audit ie assurance department.

One thing is sure: the lady must be a very smart lady, conservative, intelligent, hardworking and ambitious to have made it to big four. These are the hallmark of some of the ladies that works with the big four.

I will advise your brother to continue with the relationship. Long hours should not be a show-stopper in the relationship. Big four is a great learning environment for anyone. It would be a matter of time, she would secure another higher paying job in another company or even take the Canada route if japa is on the card. Big four staff are always upwardly mobile because of their training and experience. They are usually snapped by others after putting in two to five years.

Let your brother not mind the hours and move on with the lady if he loves her. The future reward is far higher than any current inconvenience.

I am a chronic stammer. I do it a lot up till now but you may not know at all except if you are really close to me. Also I move away from people who are impatient and condescending.

Through out my university days I could not speak to a girl talk less of asking her out. I got mocked for it too.

My first day of digrace was when I was asked to read a speech in our mosque programme.

I was saying rubbish. I cried but I didn't care anyways.

My first office job after NYSC was call center job in an ecommerce company. I trained myself a lot before interview. I moved around with drinking water.

On my first day of work I was shaking and sweating. What if I stammer? what if a customer notice. Guess what! I spent 4 years in that role and even rose to team lead position before I decided to leave last year.

My father kept visiting his doctor friend to see if there is a drug that can heal me but he had to accept my fate.
