One of the first culture shocks an African immigrant experiences in America is realizing the seeming disconnect in relations between an African and an African-American. The apparent wide gap in culture and world view between both groups is a striking marvel for a new arrival from Africa. And it seems every African immigrant has a story or two to tell about their encounters with African-Americans. And oftentimes, they are not pleasant. The common tales being the overt verbal jabs and shaming they face from African-Americans.

Most also claim that African-Americans invade their spaces usually uninvited, with questions and comments that are rather insulting. That African-Americans tend to pick on them for being nothing but Africans (whatever that means). That they can understand the stereotyping and hostilities they face from other races, especially whites, but can’t seem to understand why an African-American whom they feel some kind of kinship with based on race (apparently), and even hold in high esteem, would be this unkind and hostile towards them.

So, it is very common for well acclimatized African immigrants to educate new arrivals on how to relate with African-Americans, they are told in very clear terms to, “Steer clear of African-Americans. They are nothing but trouble. Avoid them as much as you can.”

This is a very unfortunate stereotype that has festered for generations, due to so many experiences, misconceptions and media manipulations that have gone on for so long without being checked.

And, most African-Americans see this behaviour as arrogance on the part of African immigrants. But in reality, it is more so to distance themselves from the stereotyping or racism they may face from African-Americans. And it’s gotten to the point where African immigrant parents dissuade their kids from making casual friends with or dating or even marrying African-Americans. Sad but true!

I experienced same when I was in Chicago. Bitter experience though but knowing fully well why I was there made me pay less attention. Seriously I made lots of white friends than the people I share same color with.

A black American once told me in Atlanta that most Africans who are probably new always tend to present themselves as liabilities.

Instead asking those guys anything just look for a white man to ask. They despise you with disdainful outlook. You will see reasons why our forefathers sold their progenitors off. They are loud. Pompous and troublesome.
They see Africans as completely uncivilized. They just don't like black at all.

Again its not right to generalized all of them into one space. I know quite a lot who are decent, helpful and excited know more of African culture from other New arrivals from Africa

Black Americans are usually very Toxic, Hostile and unforgiving, especially the women... I've come to conclusions that it's as a result of lack of whom to transfer the anger of racism on... And Africans are like the possible scape goats (coz na there where their hand reach)

They also do this as they see Africans as a competition to the limited opportunity which they have and Africans (having seen enough shege down here) go over there, work hard.. having various jobs and then to do better than some of them.

It could also be out of Jealousy coz a Lotta of dem know they really have no root, they aren't Africans Neither are they really Americans

The upbringing too matters coz a Lotta of dem have come to grow with hate towards any one or anything due to the toxic environment of bitterness they've been trained in

Africans too are a problem, some of us go there especially we loud mouthed Nigerians and we will not mind our business.. Thinking there is oshodi, ariaria or Zaria

Not withstanding there are also a lot of welcoming, peace loving and well mannered African Americans.

It is worst than the Oyibo people, wa fe ku. African Americas don’t like us one bit

The negativity only exists within the extremely 'niggerized and ghettoid' Africans and their equally-ignorant African-American counterparts. Like "crabs in a bucket", each group tries to pull each other down. Both sects represent the curse plaguing the black race on any given spectrum and should be avoided at ALL COSTS! They can NEVER be rehabilitated!

You don't find such primitive behaviors amongst the much more educated and exposed groups in either category.

The worst thing you can ever encounter is a local African or a hood rat of an African American
You will descend sporadically in all aspects of your life!

Those BUSH Africans who never had any form cultured upbringing or civilization before teleporting through time to the diaspora are just as toxic as those ignorant African Americans who live and die by the genesis and revelation of 'slavery doctrines'!
