I went for my capturing today at Alausa passport office and due to all the information I gathered here, the process was easy for me. Thanks to you all.

I got there exactly 7:12am and the queue was long ehn. Chai. I sha queued for a while with everyone that wanted to capture but later borrowed myself brain and went to the front. An immigration lady asked if I registered online and she verified my documents, I bought the 500 naira file and I went inside with her immediately.

Pls always go with your original documents and make photocopies too.

I was allowed into the building and was directed to servicom. They arranged my files and I went to one other office for stamp.

Then the long wait started, in all, there was no serious discrimination and no one asked me for money. All the officers did their jobs well.

I didn’t pay a dime apart from the file I bought. Just ensure you have all the necessary documents

Application form
Appointment form
Local Government Certificate
Payment receipt
Guarantor form and data page
Your Nin slip
2 passport photo graph
Birth certificate.
That’s all.
I am done with my capturing oo. Thanks guys

Note that I left the Alausa office at 1.15pm. Just get there early enough and you will finish in time.

Hi everyone, please is it possible to change your centre from Festac to Ikoyi after paying online? If not, is it possible to cancel the application and get a refund?

1. Capture centre cannot be changed.

2. You can choose to abandon the application but the fee is non-refundable.

Please how was there service like i.e. asking for money from DIY, deliberate delaying DIY, quick appointment date and the documents required? Because I want to use there for my children because my experience in Gwagwalada was not just friendly at all.

is there anyone that did biometric capturing at AKURE CENTER, Ondo state on Monday, November 7 2022 that had received his or her passport?? my capturing date was that day and the tracking still at the processing stage when tracked.. the acceptance slip date had elapsed..

NIS Akure is notorious for passport racketeering...! I hope the center would not show you 'shege' before you collect your passport. Those who enrolled or captured at NIS Akure regret (ed) going through the center. I know few passport applicants who have gone through NIS Akure and are complaining bitterly.

I'm new to this thread and I'll most be grateful if someone can graciously answer my following questions to enable apply for a new passport via DIY;
1. What website should I visit for the enrolment?
2. What documents should I have ready before visiting the site for registration?
3. Would my local government issued birth certificate suffice?
4. Is it true that people who apply via DIY get frustrated by the officials at the time of capture?
5. What is the average waiting period between capturing and collection of passport?

1. Kindly visit passport.immigration.gov.ng for your registration

2. Before online registration? You may not upload any document. Ensure you have your NIN and other details. Also, since payment is online, make your debit card ready with, at least, 26k in It

3. I don't know if that is acceptable. You may get an affidavit/age declaration and go with the two. Better still, an NPC birth certificate.

4. I think this depends on the NIS Centre. Some DIYers have reported a fair treatment here while others got cold reception. I personally was not happy with the response I got at Ibadan but if you have all necessities in place and put everything in order, you are good to go. Read this thread as far back as you can, there is sufficient information.
Also, go there on the capturing date early and be prepared for a full day. Ask questions and be attentive to instructions.

5. Nah that period I no fit talk o. It depends on center as well. A few places do not much allow fast-tracking, so you'd expect, at least, a fair time for all. While others that allow fastrack would want to deal with their 'customers' first before DIYers.

Generally, if you have enough time to wait, register online and do it without wasting time - capturing dates are occupied for months ahead. Make sure you have all details entered correctly; avoid mistake as much as possible.
