The main applicant got his Visa while the dependant was refused a visa cos they couldn't provide a marriage certificate. During application both applicant provided an affidavit of marriage according to Yoruba law and custom which was notarized by a notary public and signed at the high court in ikeja. They also provided an affidavit of change of name and news paper publication and supporting pictures of their traditional wedding and children's pictures. Still the VO is insisting on a marriage certificate. Unfortunately the main applicant is already in the UK as school has resumed. The dependant is entitled to administrative review do u think there are high chances to still insist that the only evidence of marriage they have is d affidavit of marriage or should the main applicant come back to Nigeria to conduct a court marriage immediately pls your advice is urgently needed thanks

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

First of all let me inform everyone that today is my birthday.

On 19th at midnight, I decided to write a very angry message to UKVI through paid email where I have been receiving same message that my application is awaiting decision.

Then in the morning of 20th, I got a reply that my record shows decision has been made. Na then I come calm down..lol

As God will have it, this morning at exactly 8:29am, my BRP Email dropped along with that of my dependant partner showing our visas were approved on 19th January.

As you can see from my half way testimony, my application was priority and bio was since Dec 20th.

Now the real deal is this...my course started January 9 and the last date for arrival is 23rd January which is tomorrow.

But I am not afraid because I was updating my school, both the International student Administration team and my course director. And they have extended my arrival date exceptionally.

I expect to get my passport back on or before Wednesday and travel over the weekend.

Employment letters and employer reference letter to explain 17 years student gap

A letter of explanation for reason i decided to study in UK now, reason for my course and university. (This was to avoid any interview)

Degree certificate and transcript

IELTS result

For my dependent partner, we submitted just our marriage certificate and my statement of account.

I knew it will end in praise despite the long wait and scare.

Finally, my appreciation goes to everyone one in the thread sharing knowledge and experience.

For anyone expecting, just remain calm and confident, it shall end well like my case.

She could have added more documents to substantiate the relationship before, during and after ( bills paid, joint bank statement, investment etc) and a cover letter to explain in details what was submitted and why.Notarized affidavit have been abused for a long time now, pictures are minor evidence,plus change of name has nothing to do with proof of relationship.

The admin review is a 50/50, no additional documents will be requested,the case file plus what was submitted during the application will be given to a different caseworker to assess plus the time it will take which could be months.

My opinion,do a court wedding but back it up with documents before the trad.she can even include the notarized documents but then the court certificate is the key legal umbrella that falls under if it makes sense.

If/When she reapplies,she should address the previous refusal properly

Did you apply for May or September? If it's either of them you have time to pay via form A.

It's still conditional if you have pending documents to submit, can you send an email to your Uni to say you have NECO results?

You may try to get a letter from your previous Uni to confirm you were taught in English

Also I was told to make payment within 28days to secure my admission and according to the person I texted told me I should have registered for form A nothing less then 5weeks ahead before she can do anything, please which other way can I make the payment aside from flywire because their rate is too high and domain account will take days to process which I don’t want to risk.

Application for me and dependants - 5th Dec
Bio - 8th Dec (Priority for me)
My collection mail alone - 15th Dec
DHL delivered - 16th Dec
BRP for ALL of us - 18th Dec (Decisions made 13th Dec)
No NSF, no interview

Waiting game...complete silence
No passport for dependants, stuck at DMC like play like play days turned into weeks,

Several paid calls/paid mails
Sent mails to all the email shared here
Sent to TLC and they responded that the passports are not with them.
Was escalated on the 9th January
Rescheduled our flights twice.

Sent a letter on the 17th and 19th January to Sheffield escalation and Sheffield amendments.
On 20th, around 11am, I prepared a letter, sent to my sister for BHC, she printed and enveloped gave an uber to deliver to BHC. Minutes after we gave him delivery instructions... I checked my tracker, MOVED TO VAC....I called her to call the guy back. She did, the uber guy returned the letter.

20mins later, RECEIVED BY VAC and collection mails. Courier / dispatch mails came about 25mins later...
What God cannot do does not exit...

DHL took their time, WE DO NOT WORK ON SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS. Passports delivered 9:45am, Monday 23rd January.

I return all glory to God. For it could only have been him.

Sheffield amendment repllied in both cases that they have issued VAC with an urgent instruction to release the passports. Very understanding too.

No you mustn't arrive via Heathrow,if the airline has a different route, and avoids the hassles of transit visa then go for it

My personal preference is to book directly with the airline so I can't really say much about third party platforms.

Please does collection mail means visa is approved, if no other mail has been received earlier - (case of a dependant)
or has anyone received a refusal after collection mail
