What I have learnt is to be careful of platforms that promise a certain rate of return .
There is no government bond that currently yields 15% in foreign currency so I'll be careful. Risevest also invests and manages stocks on behalf of their customers. No investor in US stocks had a good 2022, even worse for those who invest in Crypto and tech stocks. Yet, Risevst posted positive returns to customers.

I started using Risevest some years ago when the returns were around 8%. Now that I see 15%, I am suspicious and just pulled out. I have been taught to dislike free lunch.

When I ask him about Fixed deposit and TB he was discouraging me, saying Fixed deposit is less that 3 percent TB 100m above.

Maybe I met the wrong person, because he was trying to convince me to invest on Sanlem insurance with 5% yearly. 100k interest on 2million.

I just got a job in Poland and the work permit has been sent to me, as a software engineer I have dreamt of getting a second leg in a country in Europe and now this happened (a dream came through)

But then, the salary is small compared to what I am currently earning as a remote engineer.
Since it has always been my dream I have decided to give it a shot , get the PR and probably come back to Nigeria and now the thought of getting a house before leaving sets in. The total cash I have is 97m aside the investment in shares which is around 10m and also the pension worth 8m I don't have any other property even a car.

Therefore I have been in the lookout for a house in Lagos but those that meets my standard are between 50-60 million.

Please experts in the house, is it a smart decision to spend such amount of money in property at this point.

I don't think it is wise going for a Job in Poland with a much lower salary you are getting from your remote job, first of all the cost of living in Poland is much higher and you will be getting a much lower salary, what's the catch there, even people in America are looking for remote work that can allow them live anywhere in the world, they just travel with a country with good security, electricity with a good cost of living

Please rethink your decision, you will loose you the freedom and buying power

No once I get to Poland I would have access to more Jobs since I would be living in the EU and from there I can move to Poland or Portugal. As you know once you lived in EU for five years you can get PR

Per investment, I think Ahib's suggestion in your OG thread is good. Buy an apartment block, keep one unit for yourself, but have a property manager offer it up for short-term rentals.

That said, looking at global macroeconomics, you should exercise extra care before pulling the trigger on anything. A recession is on its way. Which means those flush with cash will have lots of assets to purchase at cut-prices. From stocks to real estate. Keep that in mind.
