CBN is now deliberately restricting the cash in circulation. They have banned bank ATMs from dispensing old notes but allowed over the counter withdrawal of old notes up to 500k per week.

Meanwhile the ATMs they are insisting must dispense new notes can only dispense a maximum of 20k per day.

If you even use another banks ATM card, the machine will only pay you 5k. .

So if you need more money, you have to go inside the bank to collect money that you can't spend beyond January 31st.


Last last, whether we like it or not, all of us will go cashless.

What remains to be seen is if this will have any actual effect on politicians who are friends with MDs and EDs of banks.
