Is anyone impacted or being impacted by the recent tech layoffs? They just did a series of layoffs where I work. Lost some good colleagues, even some recently promoted ones. Hopefully they find a good job sooner. This is the new reality of working in Tech. Crazy events like this could set you back after you have already set up yourself with mortgages, car financing, etc. However, I do believe that one of the best things anyone in this field can do for themselves is to never stop learning, so that you are an expert onto yourself and can always find a job somewhere, somehow. 11 Likes |

The gurus in the house please I need your help! I am a new member here, and i got to know this platform after I had already submitted my study permit application through an agent on October 2022. I got a college admission but was refused of my study permit application in January 2023, which I am about to apply for the gcms. The reasons for the refusal is linked to "No adequate financial resources provided, and there is no evidence that I will not work in Canada during my study period". Document submitted along with the application as guilded by the agent was: 1. Payment of my first year tuition fees 2. Gic certificate of 10k cad 3. Valuation document of two family building s 4. Employer's letter of introduction 5. Gratuity statement of account 6. Pension statement of account 7. LOE The agent submitted the application without even asking for my statement of account. I knew that could be responsible for reasons for refusal. I planned to reapply but not through this agent again and I planned handling it myself because I have gained a lot of information dropped by many people on this platform. Please I am appealing to the gurus in this platform to assist in guilding me on the documents I will need to have successful and fulfilling application this time. Plss🙏🙏. 1 Like |

Bwise22: Abeg no vex. What is the big deal in visa application that someone cannot apply for themselves and have to rely on agents? Is it a case of not being able to read and write or not having confidence in one's self or what? Everything you need to apply for a visa is well written on their website. No big deal. You can do it, you will do it and you will be successful. 14 Likes |

Search Canadacargo on Instagram or Google. They are about N2600, N2700 per kg and their Lagos office is in Ajao estate. They are pretty good and deliver within days. As to affordability, that's relative. It is business after all. sisicanada: 2 Likes 1 Share |

slydog:Hi guys, Update Everyone talks about how to do some courses to get into IT. A colleague of mine did scrum and began negotiating double his salary with new employers to my greatest surprise. Seniors in the house, I'm looking for 6figure now. I've done and gotten my PSM. I'm also currently taking data analysis training with blacktech. I'm open to tips and advises on how to break into tech with my PSM for a start and also eventually when I'm done with my data analysis training. Thank you |

slydog:Take a certification with a real university like those in Toronto or take a google certificate and make sure you really understand what it entails because, oftentimes, the recruiters will ask you specific questions. Essentially, your focus should be being able to scale the interviews. Once you have your certification / certificate, finish some related projects (credit risk analytics and/or prediction), put it on GitHub, and link it on your resume. Tidy your resume to conform with the role you would love to get and start applying for as many jobs as you can 13 Likes 4 Shares |

Hi everyone, I just got my student visa and will be coming to canada - Barrie ON on the 6th. I wanted to find out if its possible to get an accomodation there from my location. Or is it better to come in first. Also between a Booking.com apartment/hotel and an airbnb, what would you recommend? Thanks a lot 1 Like |

Naijafreespirit: https://www.rate-my-agent.com/Toronto-ON-Agent-Ratings/ <-- look at reviews, Call a few and interview them. If it's your first time buying a home, research using Google and read about do's, don'ts, things to avoid, red flags, etc. Don't sign a Buyer Representation Agreement until you are ready to make an offer with your agent - and even then, don't sign one that locks you in for an unreasonably long period. Avoid agents that make you sign a BRA before agreeing to work with you. More on that here: https://settlement.org/ontario/housing/buy-a-home/buying-basics/should-i-sign-a-buyer-representation-agreement-with-a-real-estate-agent/ General resources here: https://settlement.org/ontario/housing/buy-a-home/ 11 Likes 3 Shares |
