Criminal cartels and cabals. CBN should not accent to their request. Imagine A regulatory body giving instructions and all these useless banks are ganging up cos it's politicians that owns them. Well we will see how strong, firm and serious the CBN is . All these commercial banks CEOs that should be in jail. CBN will domicile loans in their banks at a single digit they will multiply it by 3 and still give it out in every six months. CBN should use efcc to follow up any bank CEO whose bank refuse to do the right thing. Even if you're coming from America , it shouldn't take you forever to get to bank and change your money. |

ogwumgbe: Bros...have you gone to the market before to buy tomatoes, pepper, etc? Have you entered a bus or public transport before? Will you tell Iya Risi, the food seller at the market that you should transfer money to her account? Will you tell Kazeem or Johnbull the bus driver or conductor that you will transfer N100 to him for the transport fare? Will you tell your vulcanizer to give you his account number to transfer N200 to him for pumping your tyre? Haven't you done a transfer and the transaction hung & you couldn't get the goods or services you want to pay for? Will you tell me that within these 26 days of 2023, you have never had a reason to have to spend cash? Let's call a spade a spade! Elections will come and go. There is life after elections! This naira re-design is simply a policy somersault. If all the banks in the whole of Ilupeju axis from GTB to Access to Zenith to UBA to Heritage to Sterling bank, etc don't have the new notes as at 10am this morning, doesn't that tell you that there's a crisis brewing? All in the name of stopping vote buying? Like I have said before, the politicians and the rich people in this country will never lack new Naira notes...it's only people like us that will lack it. The banks will give the rich and wealthy the new notes before you and I because the money those people have in their bank accounts is what keeps the banks afloat. Having worked with 2 billionaires while I was in paid employment, I know what I'm talking about. Las Las... everybody go chop the breakfast wey we think say na only few people go chop! 2 Likes 1 Share |

CaptainFM1: Can't you people understand the problem here?! The problem here is not people depositing old notes..THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE BANKS DON'T HAVE NEW NOTES TO DISPENSE TO NIGERIANS... THAT'S THE PROBLEM! From Mushin to Ilupeju, the bank ATMs aren't dispensing and they say the reason is that they are still expecting the new notes from CBN, as at 10-11am this morning. Blame the CBN, NOT INNOCENT NIGERIANS! 2 Likes |

tarantino1:Cashless policy have been existing since the tenure of Sanusi as the CBN Governor. There's no need to rush things at all. The New notes have not circulate, so there's a need to extend the deadline. Some of the policy don kick off, nobody is against the cashless policy, but the deadline is not realistic. |

frugal:I'm not ready to suffer. The only reason reasonable people are asking for extension is because the new notes have not circulate yet. With an extension of the deadline, there will be enough time for the money to circulate. |
Re: New Naira Notes: CEOs Of Commercial Banks Back Extension Of Deadline by Parachoko: 12:07pm On Jan 27, 2023 |
onuman:So who's stopping the Government from arresting them all this while? Why is the CBN not also sanctioning the banks if they have been flouting the CBN order? Common sense suppose let you know that, the new notes have not circulate yet, so there need to be an extension. If the CBN is releasing enough money to the banks, do you think the CBN would have been these lenient on the banks? The CBN that is not even bold enough to tell Nigerians how much have been printed. The policy is a good one, and no one is asking for the policy to be scrapped, there's just a need for an extension. 1 Like |

tollyboy5:For the past few months banks have been having issues mostly due to the loss of their key technical staff to the japa movement. Between Tuesday and Yesterday Fidelity bank has been undergoing "maintenance". What's your take on this? The same CBN who came up with this currency change policy can also mandate banks to monitor transactions and to issues a Post No Debit on any account observed to be paying out multiple transactions of small small amounts which is synonymous to vote buying. No dey cap nonsense |
Re: New Naira Notes: CEOs Of Commercial Banks Back Extension Of Deadline by Johnken1234: 12:07pm On Jan 27, 2023 |
I don't understand what is actually happening in this country. Emefiele accused CEOs of commercial banks of contributing to the scarcity of new naira notes as CBN has printed a quite number of these notes. Then the NASS invited the CEOs for questioning. What was the questions put accross by the NASS to the CEOs, where they able to refute or defend this claim by Emefiele. That is what we want to hear, if it is not so, what is the essence of inviting them in the first place. In that case, there was no meeting. And finally, is Emefiele not supposed to be in this meeting?? This people are just playing with our intelligence. |

Parachoko: People are already suffering because a few are hoarding it. Extension will not make the money to circulate. It'll just give hoarders more time to hoard more, and then we're back to the same suffering all over again. Money will come out and circulate after the deadline. |
