I’m based in uk on a tier 2 visa with my husband and two kids(American citizens). Currently I’m pregnant and I will still want him/ her to have the American passport but I still can’t figure out the reasons to point out why I want to travel during interview because I have just applied for a medical visa.
The visa I got initially was medical visa and I declared that I was pregnant and I wanted to birth my baby in the USA because of the poor health care system in Nigeria.
Now I’m in the uk, I really do not know what to claim.
Please I need your suggestions

Just go there for the interview and mention you are there to renew. Same happened to my wife, she had a b1/b2 while living in another country before we moved to UK on tier 2 and she had to renew before birthing our baby in USA( Same reason as we wanted our baby to still have an american citizenship. She went to the London embassy and mentioned specifically that she wanted to renew her visa and she was granted as the VO could see she had visited previously. Also i think its good to mention you are there to renew specifically because my wife just went to the VO counter and the VO thought she was applying for the visa the first time till the VO mentioned, oh you have visited before and here to renew. B1/B2 is still same medical and visit so no need for you to over complicate things for yourself.

Congratulations 🎉 renewed mine at London office as well. They asked me to send the proof of payments (just 1page each) for each child to their email because I didn’t take it along for the interview and my visa was granted

Baby came to UK with my wife on US passport as US citizens are are allowed in for 6 months, and then we applied for dependent visa in the UK right after. I think its better to just apply for dependent visa right after baby is back in the UK and not wait till the 6months lapses.

I applied for my visa at 28weeks pregnant (after waiting for a date for a long time, and later qualifying for the 48month IW) I'm currently 35 weeks, and am yet to hear anything from the embassy. Tracked my application and it just says "Application Received" still, after 7 weeks!!! All calls and messages are just given the same generic responses, and are never any help. My mum applied same day as me and got hers 3weeks later. She applied for a tourist visa, and I applied for Medical B2. Been to DHL office, and they say the passport is still with the consulate/embassy. Is any one in the same situation, or does anyone have any suggestion to help me move the process along? Thank you! I will definitely give updates on this thread, as you guys have been so helpful.

Hi people. I would appreciate any response on this. Update: Status changed to "No status" on the CEAC website on the 18th of January, but my passport is still being held till date. No helpful response from the visa helpdesk. Just wondering if anyone else ever experienced something similar.

We've never applied for an American Visa as a family before, neither has wifey applied before we got married. Our daughter was born in Nigeria. So, since we are hoping to get an approved visa for the wedding, why not just give birth over there since her EDD is a little after the wedding.

Bear in mind that when wifey was filling her DS-160 form, visit to the U.S. was strictly about the wedding we will be attending, nothing has to do with childbirth there because at that time, we didn't know. Now, my question is, do we just go for our interview and declare a visit for the wedding and tell the VO that wifey will stay back a little longer to give birth or we just stick to the original story of the wedding and hope for the best.

By the time of our interview, wifey will be 30 weeks plus gone which means the baby bump will be visible.

I need your best advice here, please.

Bugflector, if your wife is going to have her baby while in US together with attending the wedding, it's important that you declare she's having a baby seeing that she was probably pregnant during the application process. You can fill a new form and update it on your appointment page. Book Appointment with doctor, have enough money in your account and hope doe the best.

Speak about your desire to have your wife give birth here in the US. Find a doctor and a facility and arrange to pay all costs without a discount (which is usually a trap) and let the VO know of your preparations. Honesty may seem troublesome however it’ll never be as much trouble as if your wife gives birth while on a tourist visa after not declaring her pregnancy. Good luck and a healthy delivery to your wife.

Soooo, I successfully entered via Dallas PoE today. They didn’t ask but I willingly divulged that I was also going to have my baby. They took me to secondary inspection and the guy just asked for paperwork with the Dallas doctor and mode of payment. Showed him the paperwork and confirmed I’ll be paying with my credit card. During take off you hold your baby and when the seat beat signs are off you use the bassinet, same applies to landing.

Hey! I think what happens is that some people who have bigger babies and don’t want the discomfort, they buy a full ticket so the baby can use the car seat on the seat. However, for a smaller baby the bassinet will work just well - I presume your baby is still new-ish, so your lap/bassinet will serve the purpose, save your coins Sis!

I found myself in an unfortunate situation where my return ticket had a layover in Canada, now I have to apply for a transit visa for myself. I’m just concerned about processing time but looks like I have no choice.
