Seoul, South Korea - Five Russian men who fled the country after Moscow's military mobilization order last September have been stranded at South Korea's Incheon International Airport for months after authorities refused to accept them.

Three of the men had arrived in October, with the remaining two in November, said their lawyer Lee Jong-chan.

Lee said that their applications for refugee status were denied by the South Korean Justice Ministry -- leaving them stranded at the departure area for months while awaiting a ruling on their appeal. "They are provided with one meal a day, which is lunch,". "But for the rest of the day they live off bread and drinks."

The men are able to shower but have to wash their clothes by hand and are unable to leave the departure and duty-free areas, he added.

"They have limited access to medical care (and) no support for their mental health which is important considering their precarious situation," he said.

The "partial mobilization" of Russian citizens to fight in the country's war on Ukraine generated angry protests and prompted a mass exodus when it was announced last September. Many scrambled across land border crossings or bought air tickets out of the country.

Collective data showed that more than 200,000 people fled Russia for Georgia, Kazakhstan and the European Union in the first week after mobilizations were announced.

South Korea's Ministry of Justice has dismissed the men's applications as "not being worthy of evaluation" -- on the grounds that refusal of conscription was not a reason for refugee recognition, according to their lawyer Lee.

Their refusal to serve in the Russian military "should be recognized as a political reason" considering that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was "condemned by international law," Lee said.

Rights groups have called on the South Korean government to accept the men as refugees.

"Those who apply for refugee status upon escaping political and religious persecution from their home countries have rights to protection under international law," read a statement from a South Korean rights advocacy group. It was highly likely that the men would be "detained or forcibly drafted" if they returned home, the group added.

The men have appealed the decision and three of them are set to face their first ruling on January 31 -- during which a court will decide if their case is "worthy of evaluation," Lee their lawyer said.

If the court rules in their favor, the Justice Ministry will then have to review the men's applications for refugee status.

Go and see how Ukrainians are bundled by zelenkey Nazis to military concentration camps for use as cannon folders. Now they are hunting Ukrainian men abroad to join because the deaths of Ukrainian military is catastrophic. Russia is just starting. And oh Russia is a country of 150million so this propaganda doesn't sale. 5 men out of 150million people. Rubbish story.

Ukraine is not the aggressor so that is understandable.

How can Russians be fleeing their country when they are the aggressor.

Was it Ukrainians that matched into Russia?
Was it Ukrainians that broke the Budapest memorandum and annexed Crimea?

These people even if it was true are Ukrainians first. Would Chad or Niger Republic invade Niger-Area because Nigerian Fulani herders are becoming endangered species?

Asper the orange revolution. What's Russia's business with an election in Ukraine. What is Nigeria's business with an election in Benin Republic.

By the way, the Budapest agreement was signed in 1994. You still haven't answered my question. Why did Russia violate the agreement?

The example you gave is different from the topic of discussion.

Did you know why people from the Donbas region are tagged as "extremist group" by the MSM in the first place.

Russia has no business with elections held in Ukraine. The Donbas people who did not agree to the ousting of the legally elected president where being killed because they refuse to accept the result of the orange revolution which the west brought to Ukraine.

What has orange revolution and election in Ukraine got to do with Budapest memorandum. Is Crimea in Donbas?

When are the Irish going to invade the United Kingdom because Northern Irish are not been treated properly ?

Just the way some southerners support the killing of Fulani herds man. Would you find it okay if countries were Fulanis and Bororo are dominant starts arming Fulani militia in Nigeria to destabilize the country?

Anyway, you haven't told me the legal reason why Crimea was annexed?

You type as if you don't know the relationship between the Russians and the Ukrainians.

Besides Russia set Ukraine free and they gained their independence which has not happened since the word Ukraine came into existence.

Let me jump in.
So according to you, since Ukraine got independence (which is not true by the way because The USSR broke into several parts), that means Ukraine's should bend over and get bleeped in the arse by Russia multiple times.

That means all colonised countries should start getting invaded by their colonial masters them. All because they were set free.

Historically Crimea was originally part of Russia from 1783 but was gifted to Ukraine in 1954.
in 1954 Nikita Kruchref “ Head of the USSR and a Ukrainian citizen ” Gave Crimea to the Ukrainians for being loyal subjects of the Soviet Union.
This is what I call a mistake and it can be corrected.

Russia and Ukraine had an agreement whereby they would share the military port at Sevastopol, where Russia’s Black Sea Fleet had been stationed since coming under Russian control.
Pro-Russian Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych upon assuming office in 2010 extended the lease for Russian use of the port until 2042.

However, he fled Ukraine in February 2014 amid a large-scale protests, called Euromaidan. Which is the orange revolution I'm talking about.
"The protests were started by his refusal to sign an agreement for closer ties with the European Union" which is exactly what the west tells everyone but they have an hidden agenda called coup d'etat which they succeeded in carrying out.

He even came out to explained by saying the Russians gave them the financial assistance that they needed without any interest, but the Europeans are try to cut their necks.

But because he chooses the one from Putin, immediately problems began in Crimea. Within days strange bands of armed gunmen, called “little green men” began seizing government buildings in Crimea. They obviously looked like regular Russian military forces but according to Moscow they were local members of "self-defence groups."
With very little notice.

Due to the coup d'etat happening in Ukraine and the resistance of the Russian speaking population not joining the ousting of the president, the citizens of Ukraine especially from the west started fighting against the people from the east and southern part of Ukraine.
Now imagine having the backing of the armed forces, you can do anything you like without facing justice, and that was exactly what was happening in Ukraine.
People where dieing horrible death and the west did nothing about it because they're the brain behind the coup d'etat.
The people of Crimea had to call on the Russians for help and they opt for referendum to join Russia.

You can remember very well that in march 2014 Crimeans held a referendum, that overwhelmingly voted for their region to become a part of Russia.
But you know how the west thinks they dominant the world, they called the referendum illegitimate like they did in the Donbas region recently.

Shortly after the referendum Putin signed accession treaty making Crimea part of the Russian Federation once again.

The west impose sanctions on Russia, which gave their economy a huge blow at that time, but today the story has changed: their sanctions is giving Russia economic gains.

Saying Ukraine did not gain independence is wrong. Or maybe you have your own definition for the word independence.

They gained their independence in 1991 when the USSR broke up. Also gaining their independence at that time there where many pro Russia politicians in Ukraine.

So do you mean a pro-russia politician that was legally elected should be oust because he is pro-Russian?
