You are in the Zone My Top Man GoodJoe. Why do you think I highly rate and have talked about RDZ (Roberto De Zerbi) Football a couple times on this thread? It is partly because of what you are currently witnessing them exhibit vs Liverpool.

And the thing is with the right personnel, replicating it isn't that hard.

De Zerbi's Positional play system is kinda similar to Pep's but not entirely all the way down to tactics but the central ideas are similar.

In De Zerbi's system, he goes for Defenders who know their defensive duties but are also quite comfortable on the ball in the first phase of buildup plays and midfielders who are comfortable both in the first and second phases of buildup plays. He also plays with a "find the free man" concept. At each buildup phase, when the ball moves vertically, there is always that one player who takes up a position behind the opposition player who leads the press against the current ball holder.

This free man isn't paid attention to because he doesn't have the ball yet but why he is vital is because he is the guy who stays free to receive the ball after 2 passes from the current ball holder to his nearest teammate who then finds this "free man" in space who in turn transits the next phase of play Vertically. So much I can say on this. Been studying the man's system.

In the Super Eagles, we need bonafide 1st and 2nd phase midfielders but we mostly just have 1st phase midfielders with limited technical quality in the ball and in the vertical angle of buildups.

It is possible but we only have to pick the right personnel and Fortunately enough, we actually have them.

P.S: Brighton have signed another midfield talent that suits the RDZ system. Yasin Ayari from AIK, Sweden. Just 19. Keep an eye on him too.

Safe to say Series A belongs to Napoli, both Juve and AC Milan losing today,

Hmmm Hope Mourinho will not put a spanner in the works for Napoli

Your fears are understandable. Roma remain a tough force under Mou but again, if Napoli get into their normal transitional/positional plays gear, we might see a repeat Napoli Victory like we saw at the Stadio Olimpico earlier in the season.

Iheanacho's Leicester career stats:

191 games
50 goals
29 assists

Out of the 191 games, he started only 92..

You are misrepresenting the facts to present a FALSE narrative.

136 games in the EPL and over six seasons he has scored 26 goals , the clinical best finisher in Europe.

First of all minute's played does not automatically equate to a probability of goals to be scored. Good players make a difference irrespective of the minutes scored.

Do you think if V.O. had played the same number of games and or had the same game time he would have scored just 26 goals from 136 games in 6 seasons of football at Leicester Consider this in 2018/19 season KC played 30 games and scored once , is that not shambolic ❓

Ademola came on in the latter part of the second half of last seasons game Liecester Vs Liverpool. He got the winning goal within 3 minutes of coning on and was awarded the MOTM.

According to you you need to start games before you can be effective, that proposition is simply not TRUE.

Rashford has come onas a substitute and scored and or been substituted after performing.

You always change the goal posts to accommodate your narrative which is simple not standing up to inspection.

Scoring goals as if going out of fashion
Keep it up lad, wish you injury free season, so Osi can be pushed grin

I don't think it's about VO being pushed , it's about who will end up with highest number of goals at the moment they are competing.

Who wins I don't know either way from obscurity Ademola is proving all doubters wrong.

The bolded is exactly what Iheanacho did. Despite limited run of games, he has an impressive goals to minutes ratio.

For a professional as you claim, you can not pretend that cameo appearances is the same as full games.

That is a blatant lie.

Someone needs to clear me on this.

Leicester fans are screaming that Rodgers is treating Iheanacho unfairly and Iheanacho did more than enough to get a fair run of games.

Here is komekn writing thesis pro-max to tell us that simple fact is not true.

Like how. This is self claimed football professional.

He is telling us that something everyone knows that sub role is not the same as full games is not true.

There is a reason why the most authoritative Stats outfits in the football world make constant reference to "starts" and "minutes played".

This is because they know it would be absolutely unfair and also a blatant misrepresentation of facts to just analyse a player who has, for instance, 25 games/appearances in a season with none of them being "starts" alongside another player who has same number of games/appearances but in the latter's case, all are starts.... and class them in the same category for games played wholly.

They know these things. We, schooled, in the game also know these things. But then, there is another class who refuses to see and prefers twisting facts... the Komekn Class. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Imagine Liverpool fans calling Origi a waste of money because he doesn't score much.... That's be mental! Origi is a prolific scorer that doesn't start much simply because he doesn't suit Klopp system very much..In fact, he starts on the wing at times.. A lot of his starts and goals came in cup games against the kind of oppositions some people are mocking Iheanacho for scoring against... Ironically,Origi is currently in a "lower, less competitive" Serie A and has already been branded a flop..

As far as I'm concerned, the criticism on Iheanacho aren't justified..it's laced with sentiments, not facts.. Iheanacho caused it sha... E dey enjoy for Leicestershire, he no send anybody..

Which National teams play like that!
You people expect too much from Super Eagles!
This is a club that pays their salaries and provides adequate facilities to train with one another everyday.
Argentina, and Senegal that won the World and AFCON did not play like this!
Even Lamptey did not start a single match at the World Cup, does that means the Ghanaian coach you were praising is not good afterall?
TheGoodJoe:
cc: TheSuperNerd

Watching Roberto De Zerbi's Brighton gives me joy and highlights how I want to see the Super Eagles play.

No matter the team you are meeting, play with bravery and intensity.

Tidy build up plays from the back. Gross and McAllister have been insane with their build up plays working with the defense and keeper.

Lamptey clearly the best player on the pitch. Been just insane.

If we play the modern way, it will be hard to make weak selections and pick players without fitting attributes.

I hope we get it right soon.

Some people are still talking out dated Rohr. May God deliver us from backward thinking ancestors.

Bassey was made a scapegoat for their loses cos he was bought for 27millions!
Those that played today did nothing different!
The interim coach benched him to reduce the pressure on him and played him at CB to ease the pressure.
The fans wanted him to play like Blind at LB and Martinez at CB.
Every player is different! He still remains their best player in that defense.

Please, when Bielsa coached Chile, they played some high intensity breathtaking football. When Sampaoli took over, we witnessed impressive high pressing game. Germany played with a high intensity and good control during their successful run.

We are talking of Nigeria having an identity and style of play. Then sticking to it and working on it with time.

Argentina actually played an impressive system during their success but the point is simple, played with modern pattern.

Having an identity is a complex situation for a National team who can't just buy any players they want.
What we have to do is to present the players with good pitches and facilities to play.

Story. Rijkaard went trophyless for two seasons with Xavi, Iniesta and Deco. It is outdated saying any coach will do well. Football has a lot to do with tactics and style of play.

If you give Sam Allardyce that team, they will not perform in that manner.

By the way, watch the Chilean National team press Spain with intensity. Finito.

Bruno Soporuchukwu Onyemaechi scored his first league goal of 22/23 for Boavista.

His side won 4-2 vs Portimonense.

He recorded 100% ground duels won, 2 chances created, 2 accurate long balls, 2 clearances, 2 interceptions, 1 tackle all at LB.

Now on 1 goal in 14 league games (all starts).
