Lexusgs430: It's not everyone who gets the Statutory maternity pay either. I think you need to work for about 14-16 weeks before you can qualify. I remember I didn't get any as well because I only worked for 13weeks before I went on leave. 2 Likes |

There are two list: eligible and shortage. One a subset of the other and interlinked. Both (below) linked to Skilled Worker visa: your job - link Check Skilled Worker visa: eligible occupations and codes - link To check Skilled Worker visa: shortage occupations - link koonbey: jum33: |

As long as the job can sponsor you, you're good to go. Doesn't necessarily have to be on the shortage occupation list. Panasonic101: 2 Likes |

Still on this issue …….. Transpecie Transaged Transabled : felt like should have been born disabled, so cut off hand or leg or go blind. Transparent : A man identifying as a mother and not as a father anymore and vice versa. This is just the beginning. Pls if you feel you should have been born brown or white, , feel free to go transracial - it’s allowed! I now identify as ……….’wait for it’, let me think it thru 3 Likes |

Panasonic101:sorry for my error ,it is not actually not compulsory for the job to be on the shortage occupation list ,job being on the shortage occuaption help to build more point to get a skilled visa (it runs on point based system just like canada ).What is most important is for your employer to be willng to offer you sponsorshop in form of COS and your ability to gather points to meet the criteria . 1 Like |

Shortage occupation: there are not enough resident workers to fill the available jobs in that particular sector. Skilled worker: any worker who has special skill, training, knowledge which they can then apply to their work. A licenced employer can sponsor skilled workers whether they are or not they are on the shortage occupation list depending on the industry and the job type. An individual on the shortage occupation list gets sponsored for a skilled worker visa but a skilled worker doesn't necessarily have to work in a shortage occupation to get a skilled worker visa as long as they have an eligible job role. Both get sponsored for skilled worker visas when successful. Check links below to see examples of both categories: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/skilled-worker-visa-shortage-occupations/skilled-worker-visa-shortage-occupations https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/skilled-worker-visa-eligible-occupations/skilled-worker-visa-eligible-occupations-and-codes eniola1010: 2 Likes |

eniola1010:so far such employer job is in the skilled worker list and has a license to sponsor ,then you are good to go .Shortage occupation list is a subset of skilled worker list .The advantage of having your job on the shortage occupation list that you will be able to acquired more points on the point based skilled worker visa application. |

Hello everyone, Please what is the Nigerian equivalent qualification for A level? I think WASCCE is GCSE equivalent |

Did you apply for PSW? You can submit your visa application as an evidence to your employer... The delay is not from you. Pogracious: |

Nothing wrong with the care job with (Skilled Worker) sponsorship. For me, the option will be data analytics on my PSW, gain valuable experience, build tangible profile, then prospect for sponsorship DS/DA jobs. Broomstick01: 8 Likes |

Technically, yes: WASCCE/SSCE is equivalent of GCSE. It's not GCE-A. However, most UK univ have 'special' recognition for 9ja! Leeds got your back for A levels equivalent: AAA or AAB at A level - https://business.leeds.ac.uk/dir-record/lubs-qualifications/532/nigeria Oxford Brooke kinda puts it lightly - https://www.brookes.ac.uk/study/international-students/your-country/nigeria/entry-requirements Happyfellow147: |

Good Evening Ancestors! I'm asking on behalf of a friend She is about to relocate to the UK on Dependant/spousal visa and she asked me some questions which I don't have answer to 1...She is a medical doctor with more than 5years experience in Nigeria but she is not willing to practice in the UK though she intend to have GMC registration but she prefers it is her last option. So, what long term job can she do in the UK? Any certications she can obtain?? Can she venture into IT or pharmaceuticals?? Note that her background in Nigeria is just medicine no other experience though she has Cambridge A levels certificate (GCE A LEVELS) 2...what is the difference between support worker, carer, healthcare assistants because she intends to get a job as soon as she lands so as to keep body and soul together. Oh she prefers the one without personal care 3...On jobs she can do, can it be remote/hybrid/night shift because she has twin toddlers in which they want to reduce childcare cost Any pointers are welcome She really want to change career but so confuse She will be reading. |
