Na the exaggeration wey dey be that.

Suddenly, everybody is making transfers for puff puff and corn

Now, a pure water seller is troubled because of new 1000 notes, when his product is 20 naira for one
People just dey talk as if others no dey dsame country....

The only issue I have with d policy is "Yahoo boys" cos they are gonna run so many fake alert.

I believe sensitization about how to know fake alert should be d other of d day..

Cards should be encouraged rather than transfers

At least, if e no APPROVE, e no approve.

People should also be patient for alerts. No hurry in life

With the level of technology in Nigeria, we cannot implement the cashless thing right now

If network is spotty in Lagos where I assume most of you are living, what do you imagine will be happening in Interior villages where MTN. Glo etc don't even bother to do updates and upgrades

You buy yam inside village in Nasarawa and say na transfer you wan do

Even for Yankee there are some people that only take cash, Most of my Mexican contractors prefer to get cash only because of various reasons

1. Most dont even have a bank account as they just crossed border recently
2. Their account is either on child support watch and they are trying to hide their income
3. Their account is already overdrawn and any money that enters it, the bank will first take theirs

Some will give you their friends account to pay into, Imagine the type of wahala that can happen when you transfer money to your friends account and he stopped picking calls

There was a plumber that I wanted to pay, and I sent the transfer to his friends account he gave me some weeks earlier, Na so the guy begin para say I shouldn't have done that. I should only make the transfer when he is beside the friend so he can drag him to ATM immediately otherwise na gambling get the money wey I just send

Imagine th chaos when doing all these back and forth dragging over google translate
You have to have a first bank app to see any money sent to you.

I've sent money to a zenith and UBA users, they haven't seen the alert for hours.

I think your problem with the policy is that Tinubu is against it.

How long do you think this policy should last?

The man rolled it out in October. Show me where you or BAT kicked against it.

February 10 will come, insha Allah. Let me see how ENDSARS II will happen on the 11th

The fuel scarcity is what is everybody's headache. I am surprised to see you equating it to not having fiat to spend

Again you are looking at this thing at from political angle which it isn't.

I told you the day we had the conversation and I will repeat it for emphasis sake again, it is not about the redesign of the naira per say, it is the implementation of the policy.

If CBN through the banks had got their acts together, nobody will be complaining and in panic now. Because you are lucky that it doesn't affect you doesn't mean it does not affect a large majority of people.

Bro izzou, remove the political lenses you have on and see the current realities of things.

Oga CBN did not change N100, N50, N20 and N10 notes . Anybody selling puff puff has no reason to complain about being affected by the naira redesign . After each day sales , the puff puff seller should be having a bag full of N100 and N50 notes which he/she will be using to purchase ingredients for tomorrow’s sales .

Make una stop to dey exaggerate these things Abeg !

So those selling puff puff and patty traders dont receive 1k, 500 and 200 naira notes? cheesy

For someone who sells items worth N50 u don’t need to be an economist to know majority of his customers will be paying with N50 , N100 notes more than any other denominations. The few ones that bring new N1000, N500 and N200 notes will get their change in N100 and N50 denominations .

It’s not rocket science .

I gave an example of someone I bought N600 worth of items with N1000 and I was given 4 N100 notes as change .

There’s no need for unnecessary exaggeration as far as this new naira notes are concerned . In fact it’s petty traders that are less affected .

Atm cards?

In this Nigeria where most of the time you use atm cards at petrol stations or supermarkets, it will fail and you get debited. End of business.

You will be left visiting the bank to lodge a complaint..and wait after 5 working days or weeks for reversal.

You just dey go about this like say Naija is very ready for this policy of frustration.

Nothing is wrong if you are buying kpuf kpuf of 1k using transfer.

So if u are buying kpuf kpuf of 100 or 200 ..it becomes stupid to ask for account num.

Una too dey exaggerate d matter........all these groundnut..akara...massara or kunu talk no just make sense....b4 now, seller hardly agree to selling akara of #100 wen u are holding a 1k note...

Yes everything is exaggeration. I no even need to explain anything to anyone.

Painful that CBN extended the deadline, we will have seen how the over 900billion notes that's still outside the banking industry will magically change to new notes or it will become illegal in the holders hand.

A commodity of 100 to 150 shouldn't be an issue to this money change saga .

U are just boxing empty air in this case . I think I will agree with izzou that u are looking at this thing from a political angle and u are projecting that on others . U are looking at it from how the whole thing will 4ck ur principal over , but yet u are accusing others of buying into CBN’s policy because they feel it will hurt Tinubu.

The CBN has come out to say they’ve been able to mop up N1.9 trillion that was previously being held outside the banking system . One would’ve expected u to applaud them because these are the monies getting into the hands of criminals , bandits and what-have-you thereby making the country unstable . You have not done that but u are concerned about petty traders who don't even handle that much cash.

A typical u in the past would've elaborated on the CBN'S policy and would educate us on how the policy would be a Buhari's legacy of fighting insecurity with non-comabtive measures. I guess tide has changed 😎

The informal sector that runs the economy in large part is negligible?

I said ur take about d 100 n 150 using petty sellers as a yardstick is negligible.

The petty traders have nothing at all to worry about if the commodity ranges from 50 to 150 as d amount(20 50 n 100) in circulation remains.

How do you rope a kpuf kpuf an akara and a g/nut seller into d 1000 saga ?

All these are just exaggeration and of negligible impact to d real deal

I have said it in my response to iz.zou many times and it's pointless to keep repeating it but I will do so again for emphasis sake. It is not really the naira redesign that's the problem, it is CBN implementation of the policy. It's as simple as that.

Yes, CBN said they have been able to mop up 1.9trillion naira but how much in new notes are people able to access? It is easy for you a big man to deposit your old naira notes in the bank and continue to use transfer and other means to do your transaction, what percentage of the population have that luxury?

Or what do you say about those that deposited their old notes in the bank but when they needed to do cash transactions and end up with withdrawing the old naira notes again?

I went to GB Ikorodu today and all their POS machine wasn't working, the stanbic atm right beside them isn't dispensing and the customers that were paying with cash were almost all paying in the old naira notes. I had to make transfer to their union acct and it took them close to 35mins to confirm the transfer. Earlier in the day while I was looking for fuel, i took bike to Itamaga with hope that i would be able to withdraw from pos agent at Itamaga only to get there and most of the pos agent are shouting no cash. The one i later saw that has cash was paying with old notes. I paid the bike man with the old note who in turn gave me change in old note also, I'm sure the bike man will also give someone else the old note when buying or paying for something and there's a big chance that he will get back old note as change also.

All these are happening in Lagos, now imagine how bad it will be in the rural areas where they only have pos agents around or have to go to another LG or the state capital to use the bank there. (That's what happened to me in Ebonyi. Uburu that I was in has no bank, we only have pos agents, to use bank, we have to go to the capital Abakaliki or to Afipko South)
