Good Evening Ancestors! I'm asking on behalf of a friend
She is about to relocate to the UK on Dependant/spousal visa and she asked me some questions which I don't have answer to
1...She is a medical doctor with more than 5years experience in Nigeria but she is not willing to practice in the UK though she intend to have GMC registration but she prefers it is her last option. So, what long term job can she do in the UK? Any certications she can obtain?? Can she venture into IT or pharmaceuticals?? Note that her background in Nigeria is just medicine no other experience though she has Cambridge A levels certificate (GCE A LEVELS)
2...what is the difference between support worker, carer, healthcare assistants because she intends to get a job as soon as she lands so as to keep body and soul together. Oh she prefers the one without personal care
3...On jobs she can do, can it be remote/hybrid/night shift because she has twin toddlers in which they want to reduce childcare cost
Any pointers are welcome
She really want to change career but so confuse
She will be reading.

To me, it sounds like your friend is confused....... When she clears her head, so can send you back .........

My dear brother/sister please I would advise to run away if you can. I rented a newly refurbished property with an underfloor electric heating in 2021. It was newly done so i was the first tenant.

On moving in and staying for sometime we realised the flat doesn’t really get warm. An engineer came in to investigate and realised teh heating coils hasnt been done appropriately under the floor. This is the major con with underfloor heating, if there’s an issue its a lot of work to get it fixed.

Now because of being unable to fix it the landlord bombarded our home with mobile heaters. This is where we suffered because it was all electric in the property.

To cut the long story short, the money we spent on bills in the flat was enough to relocate a loved one from nigeria to the uk loool.

Let me just state that my post does not negate the pros some other people mentioned. Its just that My family and I would never ever get an accommodation with electric heating.

Also note some electric heating flats are also some times slightly cheaper in London because the agents know wats up

Note also, i know a friend who uses gas underfloor heating. Its way better. I would go for gas underfloor it gets the house extremely warm. Its great
Thank you brother, I've left the house for them. No point risking it

Lilipo:

Firstly, it is completely safe. I classify it as a luxury though because it adds up to the electric bill. However, this can be regulated. Before the energy crisis, I would have suggested a gas underfloor heating as gas was usually way more cheaper to run.

However, that being said, I would imagine that as its a new house, you would have a thermostat that can be set to turn on or off as you so desire. That way, you can control usage. Underfloor heating is not a bad thing to have - but you need to be able to enjoy it without worrying about the costs.

What is the energy rating of the property? If it is between an A and C, and well insulated, you might be able to get away with it. What I mean is that your house would be able to retain heat for longer so you wouldn't need to have your gas/electric on too much.i. e if your heating is on for an hour, it can keep your house warm for 4 hours.

These are things to consider. Ultimately, its a luxury, for those that can afford and enjoy it!
Thank you very much, after much deliberation, we have decided to keep on looking for a house with gas heating and good EPC rating

You don't have to turn the floor heating on....... But it's a good feature.........πŸ˜‚

Imagine not having to wear slippers/socks indoors, because your floor is always warm .........😜

You might not even require the use of a microwave, just put your plate on the floor. .......πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

Hi daddies and mummies.

I just finished my masters and I've exposed to two opportunities. A professional job in data analytics but doesn't sponsors and a care job that sponsors.

Pls which would be my best shot considering I'll love to stay in UK abd as well I love the analytics job.
Guy, this your question strong, you one leave data analytics job go do care work shine your eyes Oo, collect your graduate visa, do the job with the company small, continue to apply to the ones with sponsorship and then move on if anyone clear. No run yourself street on top sponsorship, ILR go come eventually, all this 5 years timeline dey give us unnecessary pressure, na here we don turn to our base, chase your skills and paper, no dull yourself.

Has anyone flown/knows someone who has flown British Airways from Lagos to UK? I would like to know what the cabin luggage capacity is. The site says 23kg for cabin as well as 23kg for checked in but I haven't seen this before on any other airline. What I see most times is 7-12kg.
I don't want the Nigerian airline workers to bounce my hand luggage.

Na cabin Dem call am now, no bi storage. E supposed be hand luggage for cabin. Haba, why u wan do 23Kg. Mba.
Be it as it may, BA are generally liberal πŸ˜‰. They are not too fuzzy on your cabin bag. Yet, don't overstuffed. Also, don't opt for large size bag. Don't put raw foods.
By the way, although not fail-proof (abi na fool-proof self, the English), print the page off the BA site from your PC /laptop, and screenshot on the phone as well. Make una start 'bind and cast' those airline workers from now till you lift off πŸ˜€πŸ˜†πŸ˜„

I don't intend to carry up to 15kg sef. Just wanted to be certain my 12kg small box wasn't too much. Before i reach there and they tell me it's 7kg capacity in Nigeria.

Not for uni.
I'm filling an application form and they are requesting A level results

semmyk:
Technically, yes: WASCCE/SSCE is equivalent of GCSE. It's not GCE-A.
However, most UK univ have 'special' recognition for 9ja!
Leeds got your back for A levels equivalent: AAA or AAB at A level - https://business.leeds.ac.uk/dir-record/lubs-qualifications/532/nigeria
Oxford Brooke kinda puts it lightly - https://www.brookes.ac.uk/study/international-students/your-country/nigeria/entry-requirements

No way back, You should look for a part time data analyst role to keep building your skill/experience, then switch in future when you can.

Absolutely not this way.
I applied there since last year, didn't hear anything from them . While waiting I took on the care thing. Recently they called me to visit their office with all my documents . Meanwhile my brp has changed .

She just want to know the difference between carers, health Care assistant, support worker just for knowledge sake and if they all require personal care

Thank you so much Justwise Mizgene Bigtt76 Hustla for your advise, it really helped and I’ve been offered a 20 hour role.

I am especially happy as this happened just under a month of specifically searching for jobs in the nhs and being 4 months in the uk, This will also be my second job so I am happy to be building on the experience.

I hope the road to sponsorship favors me as the job search has.

Her earning power from working one shift, can be equated to working one week, in the other roles listed ..............

Why she would want to switch career, work harder and earn less, is the aspect I cannot wrap my head around.........

She can work only two day's, spend the remaining 5 days with her family........ Rather than work for 5 day's.....

Does she want an easy or difficult life ............ grin

She will be reading.

there is no health care assistant job that doesnt have come with some level of personal care

I dont think he can see himself taking on a data analyst role and the prospect it will offers later if he can make such a decision of taking a carer job

What is her reason for wanting a career change, that will guide the response to give. For instance, no need to advise going into support/care if she wants a remote job because of the children. If it’s because she's experiencing too much horrors, no need for heathcare assistant. If it's to get a job as soon as possible then she may just as well remain in her area of expertise.
