It's a long story which started with
the defeat of the original Hausa kings
( Sarki ) by Othman Danfodio's jihads of
the early 19th century ( 1800s).

For example, imagine Fulani defeating
Yoruba land and then replacing the
Alaafin, Oni or Obas with emirs and
forbidding all Yoruba cultures and
practices.

That's what happened to the Hausas.
