Ashirioluwa: Ok so, we have a letter from her hospital stating that she is expecting a child and thus needs help. I’m currently interning, without pay. Also getting a letter from my organization. Are these good enough? Do you have other suggestions? I intend staying for about 3 to 4 months. Is the 5k pounds a lot for this duration please? |

NdiEgede:everything you have written is a no no… Look for another way to phrase the support you are coming to offer.. also pls duration should be about 1 month.. you are a student, how do you want to tell the visa officer you are leaving your studies for 3 to 4 months to go to the UK to offer help to your pregnant sister?? Is your studying not important? lastly your sister’s status has no business on this application. The onus is on you to have a credible profile of one who has much to lose if they dnt return to their home country. The picture you are painting is of someone who has little or nothing tying/tieing them to Nigeria. This is a great way to pack a refusal. |

MadeMan01: You don’t want them to collect the original international passport |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Ashirioluwa: 7:43pm On Feb 01, 2023 |
NdiEgede: A cover letter or introduction letter is not mentioned in the list of required documents for a visa application, but it’s still very important to write one. The cover letter introduces you and the purpose of your travel. It states every important thing you want to tell the consulate. It is also used to explain the documents you're planning to submit with your application. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Ashirioluwa: 8:09pm On Feb 01, 2023 |
NdiEgede: I was thinking the 5K was for vacation. The money is not too much. You might need more than that for a stay of 3 to 4 months. As per the Standard Visitor Visa for medical treatment in the UK, you will need to prove: That you have a medical condition that needs private consultation or treatment in the UK. That you have made arrangements for consultations or treatment. You need to show you have enough money to cover the cost of this treatment. If you talk to a consultant in the UK, you will be able to determine how much money is going to be enough. You will leave the UK once your treatment is completed, or before your visa expires. |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Ashirioluwa: 8:26pm On Feb 01, 2023 |
MadeMan01: You can choose the option to “keep my passport”, but note that this option is not FREE. You will cough out GBP 58.65 or NGN 28,500 for choosing this option. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Mrmoney90: 8:28pm On Feb 01, 2023 |
NdiEgede: Ok, if I may ask, how do you survive in Nigeria then, since you have stated that you partake in an unpaid internship? Your sister’s circumstance isn’t an issue. Another problem is you saying you will be staying for 3-4 months, that’s a huge red flag to to the ECO. You must have something that is supposed to compel you to come back to Nigeria. Like Giselle said, this your case will be hard o. Had it been that you have a good job here, even if you plan to japa when you get there, it won’t be suspected |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Mrmoney90: 8:29pm On Feb 01, 2023 |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Ashirioluwa: 8:33pm On Feb 01, 2023 |
mosesadio: It’s faster now, compared to before, when applicants waited for months before getting pickup calls. You should get a decision on your visa within 3 weeks according to their website after your biometrics appointment at the visa application center. You can as well go for priority services if you need the visa urgently. 1 Like |

Please is it possible for someone who is on a visiting visa renew their Nigerian passport at the embassy in the uk? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by infosoftlife: 11:34pm On Feb 01, 2023 |
Mzzmcky: Peruse through your bank statement and explain the outliers, i.e, transactions that are way off (larger) your usual transactions. Because you are trying to make your cover letter simple to understand. I am assuming explaining the transaction deposit of 30k will cover a page. P.S: This is just a personal suggestion. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by leef2022: 11:37pm On Feb 01, 2023 |
MayCar: Possible I suppose, but delays may be problematic, do make sure it does not cause you to overstay. Yet, you can also travel back to Nigeria on the expired passport. |

I saw this on the GOV.UK website 9. Documents you should not use as evidence Some types of documents are less useful as evidence in visit applications. These include: - Bank statements or letters issued more than 1 year before the date of application - Credit card statements - Driving license - Educational certificates that are not listed as required for your visa - Evidence of car ownership - Personal photographs - Notarial certificates - Business cards - Hotel bookings - Flight bookings (unless transiting) - Photocopies of bank cards - Certificates relating to leisure activities, for example, sports trophies - Travel Insurance - Sponsor’s utility bills - Sponsor’s council tax bills You may be asked to provide additional information by a decision maker. It really baffles me when I saw hotel booking and sponsor's utility bills among the list of documents we should not use as evidence. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/visitor-visa-guide-to-supporting-documents/guide-to-supporting-documents-visiting-the-uk#documents-you-should-not-use-as-evidence 1 Like |

Ashirioluwa: Very soon they will no longer accept documents, but opt for one on one interview like the U.S embassy.. |
