Iheanacho has started two games in the league this season... Vs Brighton 1 goal Vs Aston villa 1 goal, 2 assists.. 4 goals contribution in 2 starts... Yet some folks here think he is being benched because he isn't good enough 11 Likes 1 Share |

TheSuperNerd: And we have Everton to face next... Sean Dyche has always been a problem since his Burnley days, and Everton are regularly a problem... Terrible combo.. At this point, winning the UCL is the only thing that came save our season... |

Blueelf: The team needs a total rebuild... In defence, Gomez needs to go.. he should have gone years ago..very below average player... Matip too should get out..he seems to perform only when all our CBs are fit... In midfield, Keita, Ox, Jones, Henderson, Milner and Fabinho need to go... Elliot and Carvalho are mid table level players... Only the attack looks ok...IMO, the attack is suffering from the incompetency of the midfield... If Klopp too is tired, he should go... The team is dead! |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by benji93: 6:03pm On Feb 04, 2023 |
No, it's not. The usefulness of a theory is in its ability to stand the test of time. No matter how terrible a player is they'll have their moments(shocks in their data stream). Whether this is one of those shocks or not will be determined by an accumulation of games. We will revisit this issue when we acquire 10 more data points(games). It's strange to argue that someone earns a right based on one game, as in 'when Rodgers benches him in the next game, you will come and tell us Iheanacho didn't earn the right to start'. Oh yes, it would be fair to argue he hasn't earned the right based on accumulated data and even though Vardy is obviously spent(1 goal in 20 games is terrible), he will probably still sit on the bench. This is not too difficult a question. Should Brendan take the risk of starting Iheanacho over a healthy Vardy going forward? The answer however is complicated. Vardy had a total of 17 G/A in 25 games in the premier league last season. Coaches have to make tough decisions too. Danielnino00: 1 Like |

Naah, not in the Super Eagles. With Osimhen up top, I don't want another overly goal-hungry withdrawn forward. I think he can probably fill in for some games but in the long run, whoever plays behind Osimhen has got to have that creative nous on lock in addition to some goalscoring ofcos. Akpom is more of a goalscoring variation of a medium-grade trequartista and not the link-man/creative variation. Creativity is not exactly his forte. At Boro, he scores more because he is able to get into those positions due to some positional interplays with the striker and his ability to also shoot from between the lines with the striker occupying the CBs and Boro have seen about 2-3 guys man the CF role in front of Akpom and their numbers are fairly good especially Forss. Joebie: My view is very simple unless you want to lower the bar to the point of blatant MEDIOCRITY and ineptitude. Where the SE is concerned the name NWAKALI should not whispered. That's why I asked you to tell me just one of the players I've mentioned in the past 5 years that he has done better than. Let me inform you without prejudice, the core purpose of a footballer is to maximize his income to the very highest he can get in what is a very short term career. In addition to play at the highest level possible all things being equal. Money is intrinsically linked to the quality of a player, no matter what you say. There are players in English national League who get paid more than him and many teams that would not consider him at that low level. With regards to the bold the very best in the league are not very good at all. I reiterate beyond 4/5 place the rest teams will be fighting in English league two. |
