I have a feeling this is another myth that would get busted today 😁

Of course which is why I told him to bring his stats for any region and let's compare

Random pick which is not accurate. Anambra most populated SE state vs Oyo most populated SW state(minus Lagos)

2019
Anambra Atiku 524,734 Buhari 33,298 total 558,036
Anambra population per 2019 estimate 5,599,910
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nigerian_states_by_population

Total votes/Total population % = 558,036/5,599,910 = 9.96%

Oyo Atiku 366,690 Buhari 365,229 total 731,518
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Nigerian_general_election

Oyo population per 2019 estimate 7,512,855

Total votes/Total population % = 731,518/7,512,855 = 9.73%

I deliberately didn't choose Lagos before we hear that Lagos is a predominantly SE state

Now let's hear further victimhood of how calculator Maths and statistics deliberately marginalized some people

Also I used Buhari and Atiku alone. I know there are more contestants like Moughalu Durotoye etc who got negligible votes that's why I didn't add them to the voting totals

I think the way to go is as follows :

1. Select a particular election year ( probably 2019)

2. Get a list of registered voters in all the SE states and a list of actual voters in all the SE states.

3. Get a lot of registered voters in all the NC states and a list of actual voters in all the NC states .

4. Divide the number of actual voters by the number of accredited voters in each geopolitical zone and multiply it by 100 to get the percentage of actual voters to registered voters .

5. Compare and contrast the percentages to know who where the rate of voter apparat in each of the two zones.

The one Theflint1 suggested was easier to do for me

I have a feeling that if you do your method too the results won't be too different

My anger is directed towards Emifiele. From Soludo down the line this guy is the worst CBN Governor in Nigeria. Go out there, people are really suffering because of this nonsense. Do you know how much banks and POS have earned in this short time of this nonsense?

If I see this guy one on one I will shoot him by the balls grin grin grin. Very wicked and corrupt somebody.

CBN should be audited after this guy leaves Office. Rubbish.

I think the basis of this analysis is faulty for the following reasons :

1. You used total population of each states as denominator . The total population includes minors who are not eligible to vote , ex-convicts who cannot vote or be voted for under Nigerian law , elderly people/sick people who are incapacitated, eligible voters who weren’t able to register to vote due to one reason or the other , and finally those who actually registered to vote .

2 . The number of eligible registered voters would be a good metric since those are the people who actually are allowed to vote by law and took a step by getting registered to vote and their data is available in the public space .

3. Oyo is not the most populated SW State but Lagos , hence u used convenient sampling technique (which is a non-probability sampling method ) while picking Oyo state as a against stratified sampling technique( which is a probability sampling method ) u used for Anambra state .

Like I said it's not accurate but used data that can easily be gotten from internet like wiki

1. The percentage of infants ex convicts and sick people is expected to be similar for most states unless there are some factors that skew e.g one state has more children or more ex convicts

3. Using Oyo instead of Lagos eliminate the excuse of Lagos is not representative of the SW cos there are many SE people who bring SE apathy to Lagos

Someone will even say Lagos is more of less a SE state

Lagos is also around 8% total votes in presidential election / Total estimated population

Like I said it won't be accurate

Latest professional nextier poll.
A poll that has been consistent in accuracy since 2011 elections.

Obi still the most popular candidate and maintains his edge in swing states.
Obi performs better than other candidates outside his region.

Interesting thread on the homepage

https://www.nairaland.com/7552204/trenches-texas-story-courage-perseverance

Very interesting read. The journey of life. The twists and turns.

There are 2 things I basically thought about this story.

1. It highlights how our citizens are truly suffering and cannot depend on government on anything. Now, this guy is an orphan who had to live with multiple people who he just encountered, some of whom after some time disappointed him, and then some who helped him miraculously. He talked about how he almost committed suicide when there was no hope of paying that university fee until the secretary took pity on him and dashes him 12k just like that. That's almost miraculous. An angel appearing at the depth of his sorrows.

Now here's the thing, In a western country, this guy would most likely have received help from his government, be it students loan for that school fees, food stamps for feeding, unemployment benefits to fall back on till he gets on his feet. And his mental health would have been protected. And lastly, being an orphan at such a young age, he would have been put in care of good foster parents, supervised by government and even receiving payment.

That is what social safety nets from the government does. People's taxes pay for all these. And he wouldn't have had to almost kill himself before getting back on his feet. Reading that part highlighted my privilege that I personally tend to overlook.

Now the 2ñd point, this guy highlights what I've been saying. All of us need to pick up an IT skill.
He was able to escape poverty and make his first million by freelancing. I mean!!!! Freelancing of all things and he made the 3 million he used to then get his visa. At this point sef, left to me, I somehow think it was even too early to go, I'm speaking financially, or maybe because he hasn't spoke further on it, his last post states that he used the 3 million to process the visa. He didn't clarify whether work or student or how he intends to build on it. But if you're making 3 million in Nigeria, untaxed.m with potential to earn even more, then leaving the country means your path must be completely maples out there so you don't get drowned.
But overall, his story is a triumph story. From absolute depths to highs. I really loved this.

Personally I think that Osun election should be cancelled outrightly by the courts and a fresh election ordered .

An election in which 185k votes was cancelled out of about 778k polled by both APC and PDP is definitely not a credible one. Both parties are beneficiaries of a fraudulent electoral process; just that one benefited more than the other .

They will eventually have to ammend that part of the electoral law. It makes absolutely no sense

I just saw another video on IG of sterling bank Ado Ekiti. They've had 6m worth of new notes for 2 weeks now and they’ve not disbursed any since then.

These banks who have the cash have been hoarding it for reasons best known to them, hence the reason why the cash has been scarce .

There correct analytical methodology is a percentage of total voters to total eligible voters. Just as Flint suggested. The data should be available. I will be willing to concede if the results favour your opinion.

The problem with total population as a metric is the fact that the 2006 census figures were obviously inaccurate . A census that claimed Kano has more population than Lagos state is totally unreliable for any analysis.

I remember one of the good things Tinubu government did which I will always credit him for was arranging for the state government’s survey side by side with NPC’s back then.

The NPC’s figures claimed Lagos state had a population of 9m but Lagos state population survey that same year put Lagos’ population at around 17m. Religious factors in places like Kano allowed them cook figures up north . If a northerner claims he has 4 wives all of which have their faces covered and u as an enumerator goes to his house for counting , u just have to take his word for it cos u wouldn’t insist u want to gaze at them eye ball to eyeball .

The population figures is neither here nor there

There are challenges with population also there are these type of problems with voters registration and even voting too

I'm sure you've heard of underage registration and voting too
If we use voter registration we can also punch holes in it on that basis that Abia or Jigawa do more underage or illegal voting

We just have to pick a data and use it given that it will never be fully accurate
