So you are trying too hard to prove he can hold a flag? Lol

See desperation.

You are only reinforcing the obvious belief that he isn't fit anymore. He isn't.
ehn ehn naw. You can see in the picture that his body double was holding the flag.

That's not tinubu, that's jubril Al oduduwa.

Petrol costs are at an all time highbecause Nigeria can no longer afford to subsidise petrol, and its going to get worse.

Compare tuition fees at private universities to public universities, private hospitals to public hospitals, etc.

It's clear that the Government is heavily subsidising public services, as bad as they are.

Governments all over the world are subsidizing a number of items for their citizens including the US, with some countries even paying stipends to its citizens within certain age brackets.

The guy said Nigeria is already doing too much for its citizens. How is Nigeria doing too much for us?

Nigeria was already subsidizing his tertiary education. Why should he deserve a student loan again?

That's the problem of majority of Nigerian citizens/voters - excessive entitlement. This country is already doing too much for its citizens
Tertiary education - subsidised
Fuel - subsidised
Healthcare - subsidised
Forex (dollars) - partially subsidised

The irony of DontBullShitMe bullshitting everyone.
For your own safety, I hope you don't repeat this in public, especially in these to tense times.

Nigeria is doing too much for its citizens, yet the country ranks one of the lowest worldwide on the quality of life index, which measures both satisfaction and importance regarding various aspects of life.

Nigerians are leaving the country "that does too much for them" in droves. Are you sure you're not related to Lai Mohammed?

Now that it has also been established that we are all tribalists one way or another, hopefully, we can now move away from all of it and go back to having meaningful and fruitful conversations.

And thank you, I don dey okay now grin

The idiot thinks I'm an APC supporter.

The population of the country is growing astronomically, oil price is not rising, revenue is stagnant but subsidy remains.

You don't have to be a prophet to know. The signs are clear.

I think they misunderstood your point. Maybe it could have been phrased differently, but I agree with you 100%.

I asked you how is Nigeria doing too much for its citizens, you dodged the question. FYI, millions of Nigerians pay income taxes regularly, especially the working-class citizens.

You and I know tax deductions are made from source for civil servants and employees in private firms. Registered businesses in Nigeria also pay taxes on their earnings and profits; else they risk FIRS hammer.

Now, answer my question: How is the country already doing too much for its citizens when the average Nigerian is grappling with the problems of insecurity, poverty, poor health care, fuel hikes, constant ASUU strikes, and epileptic power supply?

We are saying the same thing. Aren't we?

I want those pointless subsidies (fuel, forex, tertiary education) stopped so the country can grow and develop like those countries Nigerians migrate to.

I think what you are saying is that there is a form of misappropriation. Not that they are doing too much for the people in the big picture, but that they are doing too much of the wrong things.

Exactly!!

My post which he had replied to stated that if the author of that post was born in the west, he would have access to as much as student loan as he wanted, he would have had free primary and secondary school education, he would have been enrolled under nhis or medicare ie government healthcare, he would have been given food stamps that would take care of feeding, he would have been receiving unemployment benefits. Government would basically be subsidizing his living.

Does Nigeria offer even half of those??

The problem is revenue generation and proper utilization.

Bro the question first and foremost was what percentage of Income Tax do you pay?

The UK government subsidises less than the Nigerian Government whilst taxing significantly more.

Do you know what it means to pay 45% income tax? Then National Insurance tax? Then Council tax? Even flipping TV tax to the BBC? Road tax for my car

I run my own business
Through my company I pay
Corporation Tax @ 20%
VAT
Employer NI Tax @ 15% on employee salary

After paying all of that...then I have to pay personally
Income Tax on my salary starting @20%
Dividend tax starting at 7.5% for the first 40K earned in the tax period and then jumping straight to 37.5%
Council tax almost £2k a year
TV License £159

Now imagine paying this in Nigeria. I'm sure that you cant...but there is an expectation for Government to provide amenities and services. How is this funded?

The Irony is alot of these taxes are collected esp by the local govt councils but it is all informal and eaten by them. Every commercial vehicle has to pay a 15k fee. Annually. That money is always in cash and is definitely eaten by the collection team. In some parts of Lagos they collect TV license. All this nurtw money is also tax. But it is undocumented and diverted

What does the government has to show for the trillions of naira they collect in taxes from citizens every year? Nothing tangible, yet you're saying the country is doing too much for Nigerians.

Even the person that made the statement already admitted his gaffe, yet you're still arguing.

So the government should increase the taxation rates now before they can provide basic amenities for citizens?

Most Nigerians are not even demanding for the same quality of life in the UK and the US.

Bro the maximum personal income tax rate in Nigeria is 24% for the top earners. The minimum personal income tax rate for the lowest earners in the UK is 20%

I don't think you guys understand where I'm coming from sha, and the UK government offers nowhere near the level of susbsidy of everyday life that FG provides.

If you think the status quo is shiit now. Wait till fuel subsidy as an example is removed.

The Government is broke from trying to finance itself almost exclusively on oil revenue.
