nihilistjnr:This is not true, you are looking at it from an exchange rate point of view. With prepaid meters available now which work like pay as you get We are having good supply even though it can be better and the whole street has prepaid each 1000 naira will give us 30.8 units which can not last a week the least we buy is 10000 which is 308 units This is expensive but people are buying if they have a stable supply |

izzou: I totally agree that any economy needs steady power supply to grow. As many companies left the country and made thousands jobless because there is no power But on the flip side, I dont believe the govt has the ability to generate power and distribute power efficiently and this must be done by the private sector with intention to make profit Like I have said many times, look at every sector handled by govt vs when private sector handles it and you will see the difference There is a difference in service delivery when you are doing it for profit vs doing it for "public good" See NEPA, NITEL Ajakuta etc I was in Bonny over 15yrs ago and they had steady electricity obviously govt was not involved |

nihilistjnr: While we have neighbouring countries that enjoy an almost steady power, i don't think electric bills there are breath choking. UK is too far to forecast what it will look like. There are African countries with very decent electricity supply. Why not look into them, and see if the bill will be too high? 1 Like |

obainojazz: Most of these infrastructures are outdated already. If you have the money to build a totally new one and generate and also price it competitively similar to the rate you pay in Australia do you think people can afford it or they will find ways to bypass your mter and run you into debts? |

iamoyindamola: Sir FG is owing 1.6 Trillion Naira to the people that generated the electricity that you are talking about. See the link below https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/11/electricity-gencos-face-liquidity-crisis-receive-57-invoice/ If you honestly think that 1k for 30 units is the real price of the electricity, I have 2 bridges to sell to you |

nihilistjnr: Obainojazz this is for you. You have invested plus borrowed from ANZ Bank to invest in Nigerias power sector and you are being owed $2.3bn. What explanation you wan give the lenders How you wan take run am? Shey no be to join APC or PDP and begin beg govt to release half of our money 1 Like 1 Share |

nihilistjnr:I am saying if they bring the actual price of electricity and there is 24-hour electricity People will pay I can assure you, if only you know the length we go through to have solar, generator etc |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by obainojazz(m): 3:03pm On Feb 06, 2023 |
raumdeuter:Electricity here is pretty cheap compared to most western countries… I had a flat rate of $68 per month but since I consume more, it was increased to $120 per month… A lot of houses and business can afford this in Nigeria See screenshot when it was increased below and that was even winter period 2 Likes 1 Share

iamoyindamola: I worked in a Digital Advertising firm. On a site, we use 500 litres of diesel to power the board every day; 365 days in a year. In today's price list, that's 400k everyday on diesel, and this what many industries go through every blessed day Whether private sector or not, i cannot fathom how electricity bill will run into 400k every day, if there was steady power 2 Likes |

izzou: Our electric bills will be manageable if we face reality. My house is full of fans. I have conditioned myself not to use ACs. Air conditioning is the biggest energy cost for any domestic or commercial dwelling. |

izzou:E no fit reach 100k for personal use sef, maybe 100 for private but it's no big deal if the electricity is 24 hours It will also improve a lot of things like that trains, road will be somehow free |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 3:10pm On Feb 06, 2023 |
izzou: Sincerely I suspect someone in the team was running wayo. They will oversize the gen so they can chop money, then inflate the diesel use so they can chop further. There is a company that introduced automated tank gauging for diesel storage. You had a real time online report on your diesel use. A lot of facilities officers got into serious trouble after their companies adopted the solutions 1 Like |

seankafor:You can as well buy less energy consuming gadgets to curb wastage... Switch off your metres whenever you are out or not necessarily in need of it. Atleast God has blessed us with not too extreme weather....... It will be impossible to spend that 100k per month |

obainojazz: How big is your house bro? I live in a 5 bed house which is similarly sized to the typical Nigerian duplex and this is how much I was paying before winter cold kicked in. We try to be quite prudent in our electricity use, but still the energy prices are murdering me right now. In Naira terms, that's too uncomfortably close to a million naira in monthly expenditure on my Nepa bill. |
