Unless you are pirating your TV shows , you may still wind up paying more.

You netflix plus your starlink. And because everyone is now streaming, maybe also amazon. So now what is your TOTAL COST of entertainment?

I always consider this with games too.

If you don't have a data plan with a free browsing period, you have to calculate the true cost of your game - purchase of the game plus data cost. If it is a game like marvels avengers which for some reason every update is 8 to 10gb, your true cost of the game is way up there
me sub Netflix.. na ment?

Any movie wey I no go fit download or stream.. I no send em papa

So far as say I go dey get my beIN sports and co.. I no get problem

A dam is actually no longer in favor as an energy source. First there are ecological issues, but more importantly, you are now at the mercy of anyone upstream of your dam. Nigerians complain that we send power to Niger. Well that is part of an agreement. Otherwise they can dam the river upstream and we are instantly fked.
look at Egypt and Ethiopia.. I heard that Nile is causing problems between them and Egypt is ready to raost Ethiopia should trhy trespass

😀😀😀Bros no be so oo. We are saying same thing na - everybody will pay something according to their usage... Am sure there are people who don't sub and mainly watch the free channels..
Same thing we are saying with electricity, if you can only afford 5k Electricity per month, then adjust your usage to that...

states that rarely pays salaries is the ones you want to build for you dams grin

Not build dams but dams are cheaper options. Just one of the options.

For example, Nigeria has a lot of natural gas, Akwa Ibom topping that list.

Akwa Ibom has been generating 169MW of electricity through the state-owned Ibom Power Company. My LGA of origin has been getting (near-)constant electricity since 2005/2006 that at some point there were no cooking gas or kerosene refilling centers. A neighbouring LGA in Rivers State used to get near-constant electricity from us too.

In March 2021, Akwa Ibom signed a deal with a Moroccan company to improve generation capacity to 768 MW. It currently can be scaled to 1GW of electricity. The plant is fueled from the excess or previously-leaked natural gas in the oil fields not far away.

With the current bill/law which allows states to distribute electricity, what's stopping the state from connecting the populace to its own grid away from the dysfunctional national grid? The electricity wouldn't be free.

Lagos has a similar plan in the works.

Like Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta can do same with natural gas.
----
There's Kainji Dam and a few dams in disuse.

So these are practical measures already available if the state governments are serious about enforcing them. Management is what you should mention but it's doable.

Mind you both you and seankafor are not average Nigerians in income

Think back to your Secondary school Economics or Agric teacher who even qualifies as above middle class

That's why I asked if he lives around politicians because you honestly can't live around normal and average Nigerians that are getting disconnected for not paying PHCN bill of 5k or less and be talking of 150k a month or even DSTV sub.

Hope madam is fine. And the car too.

Yes, she's fine. They have now told them to dress down tomorrow and either park cars away from the office or leave it at home.

If I have my way she won't even go but what can I do? The salary is still helping us cushion the effect of this hardship.

We thank Allah /God/ otem for madams life and escape. May we all make it through these dark times. smiley

I told another banker lady to make sure she wears trainers to work incase she has to do some quick running.

Maybe also dress so you can quickly blend in with the crowd and join them in shouting - where is the useless bagger!

SR don carry the news since last year. Buhari dey fight corruption indeed.

If Buhari could be such a hard core nepotist, imagine what Tinubu, who has Lagos State in his pockets and plans to follow Buhari's footsteps, will turn Nigeria to.

May God save her. These looks funny to us discussing it online, those that were facing it real life wont find it funny. It only takes 3 hoodlums to turn a protest into violence and bloodshed

Like the nepostism he did by filling his cabinet with
Aregbesola from Osun,
Opeyemi Bamidele from Ekiti,
Ben Akabueze from Anambra,
Sam Omatseye from Delta,
Lai Mohammed from Kwara,
Osinbajo from Ogun,
Arthur Worrey from Delta

The unfortunate thing is u will always see an average Nigeria readily defending such things due to their political leanings. I remember how some people were defending Akaredolu's appointment if his own son in his cabinet. Smh

Nepotism isn't all about tribalism. There's a reason I used nepotist in my post, not tribalist.

But the man is right. Any body that hopes to change the lives of Nigerians must fix the power sector completely

The Manufacturing industry depends 99% on diesel. If they had electricity, that cost would be halved or even removed entirely.

NRC have said that the rails are running on a total loss; I can't doubt that because all are diesel powered.

Imagine paying 4000 from Lagos-Ibadan by rail, and still use 2 hours plus on the journey. Where is the economic sense in that?

Steady power is our very first step to a better economy
Do you know presently, electricity is still being partially subsidised? They promised to stop in December but I doubt it.

FG pays billions of naira yearly so that electricity tariffs are lower than the actual price. Hear that. But you want 24/7 power supply when you can't even pay for the little they generate without Government intervention.

Nigerians want a Capitalist result on a Socialist plan.

The Discos aren't charging you for the real price that will ordinarily cover for the cost of the production of the "little" electricity you enjoyed.

They charge you for a %, the government covers the rest.

So, what is the point of saying I can't pay, when the system is already designed that I pay before I use?

Let them give everybody pre paid metering, then watch who pays or not.

Afterall, if i can't subscribe, i can't use it

The APC rally in Katsina was a disaster. I hear there's no cash to mobilise people to the venue. They have also quickly postponed Oyo rally. No wonder El Rufai and Oshiomole have been moving from one TV station to another cheesy
