Protesters have besieged the headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the office of the attorney-general of the federation (AGF) over a ruling of the supreme court on the deadline for use of old naira notes.

A seven-member panel of the apex court led by John Okoro, on Wednesday, temporarily restrained the federal government from restricting the use of the old naira notes after February 10.

The ex parte application was filed by governors of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara states.

Speaking with reporters in Abuja, Obed Agu, one of the leaders of the protesters, said President Muhammadu Buhari should issue an executive order maintaining the aforementioned date as the deadline for the use of old naira notes.

If I were CBN, I wouldn't have extended the January 31st deadline. This thieves and enemies of Nigeria are hell-bent to buy vote hence their desperation to fight the policy.

Buhari should give an executive order to maintain the deadline. Thieves

The masses deposited all their old notes as at Sunday 29th January before the extension. So which old notes are we still discussing here.
What the masses demand is withdrawal and availability of the new notes not old notes.

ANY ONE WHO IS YET TO DEPOSIT HIS/HER OLD NOTES IS A THIEF.

The thieves can keep on fooling their fool!sh followers in the name fighting for them.

This is a pyrrhic victory because The jurisdiction of the Supreme Court, as decided by several precedents, cannot interfere in the economic policy of the government.

You are the dumbest!

Go study section 251. Arindin.

How can you jump to Supreme court to file a case of monetary policies instead of Federal High court.

Supreme Court lacks the jurisdiction to have entertained the case ,instead of referring them to high.

Any judgement delivered by a court that lacks jurisdiction is a nullity. Consequently, any decision reached without jurisdiction by a court of law or any tribunal is generally said to be null, void and of no legal effect whatsoever.

Hope I have schooled you now?

This is a case of an agency which is CBN and not federal government.

Why challenging federal government instead of CBN? The policy they are challenging is not an action of the federal government, but CBN which is a jurisdiction of Federal High court.

The CBN is an institution empowered by law to implement monetary policies,it is different from the federal government. Federal government can't be sued for policies of CBN, but can step in to act and give instructions.

If CBN instructs your bank to freeze your account,go and sue federal government.

Well, if you are right, the Supreme Court won't have listen to the court case bought to it by 3 State Governors, so nah jargons you dey talk.

The Supreme Court have told all parties in this court not to do anything on this issue on the matter till Feb. 15, so the old and new notes will still be legal tender till Feb. 15

The Supreme Court is bigger than both Buhari and Emefiele.

All your garbage talk won't change reality

Buhari can only flex his muscle on the useless Nnamdi Kanu, that has been lock up in the Zoo cage.
