I don’t know if this is the right place to post this, please mod help to push to the right section Today is making it exactly one week and four days since my junior brother has been in cell I was in church last two sundays when I got a call to come to the station immediately that my brother has killed people,I ran out of the church and got to the station,on reaching there, that’s when I heard the whole story that my brother drove the car of one of his clients(my brother works in a car wash) and hit three people They were severely injured but not dead, they three people he hit were family members coming back from church(the mother, the son and the daughter),they boy’s two thighs bones have been broken, while the mother’s leg is broken, the daughter just sustained a broken nose. Not only did he jam these people but he has also destroyed a bike, the bike he jammed was what even reduced the speed of d car,if not those people would have been day I paid 52k for X-ray and gave 35k for drugs, the hospital bill was paid by the family of the affected And everyday I go there to give atleast 1500 for them to use and feed, they are responding well to treatment As it is now, they have been moved to a bone doctor and the man is charging 400k to treat and join back their bones but I begged till he came down to 250k I gave him advance of 40k and 2k for hot drink.Police are asking for 100k to bail my brother, the owner of the bike is requesting for a new one,not even talking about the car he damaged I’ve been mentally, physically and emotionally down I’ve told my brother he will remain in cell till I’m done running around to attend to these damages he has caused,it’s really difficult for me Modified:please I would appreciate any financial or legal support, this is getting bigger than me The bone doctor says he won’t collect 250k again, that he’s collecting 400k,that the boy’s bone is badly damaged and it will take the grace of God to heal well Please nairalanders help me |

Lucasusoro24: What did the car insurance company say about covering the accident cost? It is mandatory to have at least 3rd party insurance. 4 Likes |

fkj950ax: It is possible he got permission to drive the car. Why will the owner give him the car keys if he did not give him permission to drive the car? Also I wonder why their is no insurance when a minimum of 3rd party insurance is mandatory. I think he should engage the owner of the car to see how his insurance company can help with the bills. That is why they collect premium from their subscribers. 1 Like |

Lucasusoro24: You have done well in my opinion so far trying to meet every side's needs. Going forward, get a lawyer involved. Your brother can't be held indefinitely by the police. If he's going to be charged to court, they should charge him. Since you are in contact with the injured parties, get them to say whether they want the incident charged to court by the police or they want all medical bills met by you. You can't keep throwing money at things everyday. You will run out of resources and they will be upset the money has stopped, and then ask the same police to take you guys to court. Get a full medical bill quote and work out a payment plan. No 20k today, 90k tomorrow. Speak to the hospital for a full bill. If you have ADR in your State, get them involved so the police is not constantly holding you over a barrel. Alternate Dispute Resolution is a Court process. Thats why I said they should charge him to court so he's off the police hook. Nobody died, so it's not going to be an issue of remanding him in custody, but have your lawyer tell the Magistrate you want ADR amd also willing to continue meeting the obligations to the injured parties. Including the owner of the bike. 7 Likes |

Earthstorms: He works in a car wash. Nobody permits their car to be driven by those working at car washing that. Even the insurance company will void the policy based on this information. Does he also have a valid driver's license? 3rd party insurance also has a maximum liability amount. It's not enough to cover medical bills for 3 people and even replace a motorcycle. |

Earthstorms:3rd party insurance doesn't cover the cost of the car in cases of theft, accident...etc. It's just a pass for you to be able to drive freely without police, road safety and VIO wahala. Only comprehensive insurance covers such and sadly, 99% of average Nigerians don't have the finances to maintain such insurance. @op I'm afraid there's nothing you can do, you'll have to keep taking care of the victims until they're discharged from the hospital. As for money, you can reach out to your parents, family members, friends, church members and your pastor as well. 1 Like |

This is a terrible situation to be in...your brother just put you in serious trouble due to his carelessness |
Re: In A Serious Mess With Nigerian Police Force by Lee99: 7:39pm On Feb 10, 2023 |
Omo this your matter tie wrapper oh, first of all ask the police to charge your brother to court, 100k bail that's a big scam, I had a friend that even killed a man with his car and all he did was bury him, settle the family and help with the kids school fees, and he got off the hook, in your case you're lucky your brother didn't kill anyone.... What the hell is even wrong with all these car wash boys always driving people's cars, shey na to do big boy or what? Whenever I take my car to the wash I always stay nearby and I hold on to my car key. What a huge error from him... Sorry for the unplanned expenses OP |

Lucasusoro24: Wahala.... If your brother had driving licence, i would have asked you take it to court, because it was an accidental case. But him going to court means going to jail... You should involve other family members and your church, since it is beyond your power, i believe they will contribute both morally and financially. The igbese he has brought for you, is enough for you to have bought keke napep for him to be making decent money than washing cars, or better still establishing a car wash for him. What a mess. 1 Like |

Lucasusoro24: So sorry about that Thanks be to God that no life was lost but those broken bones nedds urgent attention Your brother is alive but in cell and if the police doesn't get their demands, he may be charge to court and sentence to prison The car owner is there thinking of how to salvage his car At this point, you need family members as you alone can't handle this issue |

fkj950ax:As it is now,I don’t have any money to continue again, that’s why I came here to solicit for help, the police told the family of the victim to sort every bills then after everything is ok,they should bring it to me to clear but knowing very well and seeing how the family of the victim are acting, they would fine a way to double the bills and expenses just to make me suffer. The family of the victim have been very rude and always angry towards me,making it seem as if I was the one that sent my brother to drive the car and hit someone |
