Classic knee jerk reaction to a slumping death of a day student that happened at Agege stadium. Very soon, even students' death in their parents house would result to a temporary closure of every school that child has ever attended, on the illogical pretext of investigating the death. Just like the Nigeria Police, you arrest every living thing in the vicinity of a death, before establishing if the death was natural or homicide. Chrisland should sue the Lagos State Government. 88 Likes 15 Shares |

Why does Sanwoolu’s government always come up with this knee jerk reaction each time such incidents happen ? One would’ve expected the government set up a panel of inquiry , invite all concerned parties(parents of the deceased child , the school management , doctors that attended to the deceased child at the hospital , etc ) , obtain useful information from them and then carry out an autopsy to really unravel the circumstances surrounding the late child’s death . Why close down the school thereby denying other students the chance of learning within the normal school calender year ? What exactly is the closing down of the school expected to achieve ? 115 Likes 13 Shares |

BlueRayDick: Maybe that exactly why it needs to be closed, to gather all the facts and evidence and make sure the premises are safe. A bit like a cordon. 27 Likes 3 Shares |

Amarisco: How this closing down the school correlate with gathering facts/evidence that partains to the case ? The deceased child is not a boarding student who stays within the school premises , rather she’s a day student who was picked up by the school bus from her home to the venue of the inter/house sport at Agege. Whatever caused her death must have happened to her at the venue of the inter house sport ( Agege) . So what evidence are u suggesting they will find in the school that made them close down the school ? All I’m saying is when government takes such decisions , they should make it make sense . It shouldn’t be premised on “MAYBE”. 51 Likes 3 Shares |

BlueRayDick: Think of it like this: a child sadly died whilst in the care of this institution and staff negligence has not yet been ruled out. The protocols, the child’s journey and general safeguarding should all be examined at close range. This can’t be done with the school still working in full capacity. I have to use the term “MAYBE”, because what we are both doing is speculating - at best. 56 Likes 1 Share |

Amarisco: I already mentioned it that all concerned parties should be invited by the panel of inquiry and useful information obtained from them to know the role each person played in the tragic incident . And yes this can be done with the school still opened . Closing the school down is just denying other students the right to learn . 8 Likes |

BlueRayDick: Death is the worst possible type of incident at school. It’s reprehensible. It can’t be treated like drugs or fire. It has to be investigated with all seriousness. I agree that an enquiry can be done whilst school is open, but an enquiry and investigation are two different things. The initial police investigation would establish whether or not there was foul play - I.e. a criminal element. Whilst an enquiry would look at how this can never happen again. They both sit separately. As such, I think before sending kids back, even parents would want to be sure the school is safe in its entirety for their child to attend. I don’t think anybody is shaking over missed education. Moreover, this is 2023 and we are still in a pandemic. Remote learning - especially for such calibre of school - should be effortless. 34 Likes 2 Shares |

Amarisco: All these are excuses that do not hold water in the face of proper scrutiny . The school has been in existence for decades and such tragic incident has not happened till now . I ask Ionce again , what concerns the premises of the school with an incident that happened offsite ? Like it’s not making any sense however u choose to look at it. The unfortunate incident happened at Agege stadium ; the venue of the inter house sports . There’s no record of what happened having to do with the school premises so what exactly are they closing the school for ? The school bus picked the child up at her parent’s home from where she was taken to Agege . The only way to get to the bottom of this is carry out autopsy , let the police authorities take the statement of her parents , the school staff, the driver and other adults who came in contact with her before the tragic incident , the first responders ( the school nurse ) etc . Closing down the school won’t achieve anyting like in the case of Dowen college . 25 Likes 2 Shares |

Amarisco: and they have to close the school down for investigation to proceed or be successful? was it a gun shooting incident, virus outbreak or security breach? Did you attend boarding school? I did and at least 3 or 4 students died for different reasons before I finished SS3. One was asthmatic and she was playing and fell into crisis on a dusty field. Should the school be shut down for that? Do you know that every other student is a potential witness, evidence or suspect vital to the investigation? Now you close the school and send them back home to further disrupt their learning. You only close the school after your preliminary investigation has ESTABLISHED that the threat/killer/disease is still active. And by the way, No need to try selling your point over sensational sale of emotion. Death is not the worst thing that can happen in a school. Death can be investigated and closed but do you know what it is when a child or children go missing for weeks? 15 Likes 2 Shares |

Instead of shutting down agege stadium where the incident happen. Our government with no thinking cap. You just wake up and take decision without thinking properly. How about the other students? 12 Likes 1 Share |

Painful. All these schools sef. In spite of the huge monies. Parents should become gangsters and always seek early signs of wahala and ruthlessly curb it. It's better to be branded a troublesome parent than an indolent one. My ward of 12 recently complained to me that their MALE MATHS TEACHER has subtly started adding SEX EDUCATION to the subject. Talking about a girl's oranges. As in... wetin concern that with equation and algebra 🤨 I dey go the school this morning like this before bird jam tree, tree fall. 16 Likes 3 Shares |

Atarakpa: Situation is still critical and the least the government can do right now when the parents of the deceased child and the public in general are in grief is to shut it down to either show solidarity or to create more time for investigation. 4 Likes |
