Win 11 out of their next 16 matches, and Napoli are champions. Any chance of bottling? I don't think so. |

Leyqute: Without google. The Nigerian flag means it can either be Okocha or Kanu. So Bolton or Portmouth(not sure Kanu had gone to Portmouth then) The goalkeepers flag is the giveaway. Jussi Jaskelainen Greek flag Stellios, Welsh Gary Speed, Senegal Diouf, Jamaica Gardener, Kevin Davies 1 Like |

Leyqute: Ah, Rahdi Jaidi, stable Tunisian defender I thought it was Turkish flag Would never remember Nicky Hunts name in a hundred years even if I rack my brain Bruno Ngotty was a very good underrated defender. Defender that would be costing £50m now but couldn't smell French team. They were plenty like that those days like Sylvain Distin and co 2 Likes 1 Share |

Ibime:I think Distin did well for City and Everton, not sure exactly why but BadoShield reminds me of him somehow. One of the few defenders that rarely pass the ball back but ironically made a mistake passing the ball back. He had the fire in him. |

airmark: Someone that delivered UCL for us, how can his rating be irrelevant? Airmark is your account hacked? Is Jorginho among the players who delivered UCL for us? Why are you avoiding this since? Do you wake up one morning and play UCL semi final and final? Why are you avoiding this since? Is Atletico and Porto small games? Why are you avoiding this since? The only thing my site exposed is the fat lie that Pulisic delivered UCL for us. 4 Likes |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by airmark(m): 1:51am On Feb 14, 2023 |
timbros: Pulisic helped out with a goal and assist against one of the 2 biggest opponents we faced in that tournament. Now, tell us what Jorginho did extraordinarily in the Semifinal since it has been established by you and your reliable whoscored that he was poor in the final.

Emaprince:I get your point bro, but while they may appear comfortable being inverted wingers, they could also be lethal when directly facing the net. They would not need to cut in (a-la Robben) but rather go full throttle running in-field since they are already on their favourite foot/side with extra space to manoeuvre around defenders. Just cos managers, coaches are insisting on this to gain whatever extra edge they think is possible does not mean that it suits all players. I know this from experience. Whether Ziyech has that or not is a different matter. |

swiz123:Nothing wrong with the old school given the aim of the game hasn't changed at all - Goals, goals, goals. How you get those goals, getting advantage over your opponents and still making it entertaining na the koko. Views will differs, people will get confused but each team must play to their strengths and what works for Team A may not necessarily work for Team Z. Football is not mathematics. 1 Like |

swiz123:Rodri is a robust DM, it’s not only fast and hard tackler that make a DM robust but his strength and shield when with the ball and not easily dispossessed by challenge. Jorginho is tactical but technically frail with the ball, in other words, his spirit is willing but body is weak. Rodri is tactically and technically strong with the ball so he can progress play with precision, even though he is not a hard tackler but has the body to make blocks as far as it’s not counter attack against his team that require chasing/running. Bousquet and Jorginho are same just that the former is slightly better with some trick and eagle eye, before side way passes, both are no no for me in my team. I actually like deep lying playmaker if he can progress or transition play from defense to attack like pirlo or Enzo(although he is a CM but can comfortably play regista) and also maintain temple of the game. Jorginho is neither this nor that, but to maintain tempo of the game and this is mostly needed when the team is leading 3 zero or when you have super attackers upfront to push opponent backward always like in the case of bousquet with Barca during the time of prime Messi and co. Jorg and Bousq are definition of carry along player. If you watch closely in the past and now, any time Barca concede their possessive structure to their opponent they will mostly lose that game, sometimes with wide margin. But watch Madrid, even if they are not totally in control of the game they will mostly still win because they have an actual CDM in Casemiro who is ready to fold his sleeve to make blocks and tackles in front of his defense. I’m not a fan of stat because it is deceiving and doesn’t tell the whole story so those guys posting Jorg vs Kante stat need to watch football more and do eye test to actually know who is making the team effective and thick. Now what is the primary purpose of CDM in football? Why don’t we just have CM and then positioned defense? When the team is defending or being attacked CDM is expected to go anywhere the ball is to make tackle unlike the 4 man defense that have to remain in shape positionally, CDM is expected to lose home training during this time and go for any man with the ball. With this, he protect his 4 man defense from constant invasion and pressure. Below is what we know CDM to be but pep disciple want us to accept the new type that usually expose his team in crucial games. There is a reason he has been unable to win ucl without Messi. A CDM, or central defensive midfielder, is a midfielder that focuses on defense but moves forward to create scoring chances when needed. A CDM is mostly tasked with supporting the defensive efforts of the team. While not a true defender, they play a very defensive game. |

Potter on how he took Ostersunds 3 divisions up to Europa League: "Mistakes, failures, losses will happen but we need to respond in a good way, learn from them & help the players enjoy their football. And then we had to slowly, slowly build an identity at the club." |

Ibime: I guess he should've gotten more international caps but then coach Aime Jacquet had Frank Leboeuf, Desailly, and Thuram. Those 3 were beasts on their day. Maybe he fell into a row with the coach or the FA. But then his career trajectory was funny. He was playing for top teams in France (PSG and Lyon) before he joined Bolton. Same as Okocha. But Ronaldinho went to Barcelona instead where he blossomed. Perplexing. |

Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by Leyqute(m): 7:40am On Feb 14, 2023 |
FBS: Agreed. But shey you know that it's difficult for a right footed player to finish from the right side? And vice versa? The only thing that will come easy for them is crossing. And crossing is ineffective if it isn't well timed and the header isn't good. But as an inverted winger, you have more opportunities to score. The best option is an inverted winger who can also cross the ball with their weaker foot. Robben, Nani, and even Ashley Young do this easily in their prime. 1 Like |
