PDPGuy: Microsoft laid off 10,000, Google laid 12,000jobs Nairaland is better than mainstream media because you get alternate views. Media and BIg Tec ( save for Twitter) quote these figures as a byline at the end of the page. Joe Biden found inflation 1.4% the day he got sworn in and ramped it up to 8,0%. The other day he was praising hinself for having brought inflation down .. Now its around 7%, Journalists could not challenge him. He also bragged about bringing oil prices down Never mind that he found them much much lower and he halved the Strategic Reserves to do that. Media...Crickets. Aboout jobs he is bragging he has created the most jobs in history.. I really doubt . If we had a media and not democrat party activists If it was Trump doing what JB is doing they would have impeached him yesterday.Democrats are just crazy. Trump asked congress for money to fill the reserves at $24 . They refused. Joe has sold half the reserves and he will buy it back at $80 3 Likes

Mississippi sees 900% rise in number of infants born with congenital syphilis. Medical professionals attribute the increasing cases of disease to inadequate prenatal healthcare and understaffed workforce. Mississippi has registered an alarming rise in the number of infants being treated for congenital syphilis. According to hospital billing data shared with NBC, the number of babies who have been treated for the sexually transmitted disease has increased by more than 900% over five years. Ten newborns that were born in the poorest American state in 2016 received treatment for the disease. In 2021, 102 newborns were treated for the disease, including at least one who died, according to the Mississippi state health department, NBC reported. Syphilis is a contagious disease that is mostly spread through sex, but babies can also contract the illness from infected mothers. The disease produces an ulcer in the area where it entered the body, which usually appears between 10 and 60 days after infection. |

Missouri votes against banning children from carrying guns in public. Republican-led legislature rejects measure to prevent minors from carrying firearms in public without adult supervision. The Republican-led Missouri state house on Wednesday voted against banning minors from openly carrying firearms on public land without adult supervision. The proposal to ban children from carrying guns without adult supervision in public failed by a 104-39 vote. Only one Republican voted in support. A Democrat, Donna Baringer, said police in her district asked for the change to stop “14-year-olds walking down the middle of the street in the city of St Louis carrying AR-15s”. “Now they have been emboldened, and they are walking around with them,” Baringer said. “Until they actually brandish them, and brandish them with intent, our police officers’ hands are handcuffed.” 2 Likes

raumdeuter:This is still one isolated case of misjudgment by a school management. It's not a state policy by democrats as being pushed by extreme right. If the parents are not happy with the school management decision, there are more practical ways to seek redress. Either a petition to the state's educational board, the courts or at worst seek another school.
At least you recognize that it's not a democratic/ liberal policy. It's the personal decisions the managers of that particular school. They can be of any political party, race or religion. Republicans new political strategy is to elevate isolated issues to the level of frenzy and outrage. Political campaigns have become an outrage shopping fiesta. Immigration, drugs, crime, homosexuality, foreign policy, etc., issues that transcends party, administrations and time. Everything is presented with an agenda to cause outrage and anger, with little or no policy suggestions. |

wirinet: When these book and policy of seualizing kids go across countries across states then its systemic and not just a random case How can it be random that same thing is seen in schools from North Carolina to Virginia to Florida to Tennessee? Its obviously a deliberate play At least you recognize that it's not a democratic/ liberal policy. It's the personal decisions the managers of that particular school. They can be of any political party, race or religion. There are people at the top of the Democratic party that are pushing these policy which many of the democratic voters dont even buy into That is why Glen Youngkin was able to flip Virginia by almost 15points from the Biden margin just a year later What policy suggestion besides taking these books off the shelfs, DeSantis made a policy that you cannot teach kids under 9yrs sexuality or sexual topics without their parents consent and the entire Democratic party flew into outrage. What can possibly be their excuse of opposing a bill like that? 1 Like |

I hope you read about the shooting in Michigan earlier today, Michigan is a Democrat State, the shooter killed 3 students and 5 were critically injured. The shooting happened in MSU. raumdeuter: Biden is a pathetic liar. Every thing he says is almost a lie, He goes to a adress a press cionfernce with a list of whom to ask him what question he has been primed. Else he addresses and walks away without asking answering any question, sometimes he has to be shown the exit after going in the opposite direction. The media is soft on him, asks him leading questions Unlike what they do to conservatives. Oh and this Ohio train derailment where they had to evacuate people and burn the toxic chemicals. MSNBC brought it up 10 days later , its all been about UFOs and balloons . |

Almiron:More hypocrisy. You want Democrats to own gay and other LGBTQ people even though there are plenty of them in the Republican party. One even contested to be the Governor under the Republican party and Trump broke a record by appointing a gay man to a sensitive security position, but you are trying to deflect the gun issue to both parties. I used to think Nigeria was a shithole till I started visiting this thread. America is not too far of a shit hole as well. Thanks to the Republican. They want to marry underage girls. Now they won't reject a bill that seeks to limit toddlers and little boys and girls carrying guns in public places. We are not talking about you guns here but guns that can blow off people's brain. CoolUsername: I have never seen a book called Lawn Boy before we can even talk about reading it. I have only seen a few passages from a single page posted here. I have no idea the plot or synopsis of the book. So I honestly have no opinion for or against. The issue of its appropriateness for a school library should be between the parents, teachers and school authorities. What I don't even understand is whether the book is part of the school or state curriculum. Is it part of any subject taught at the school? As I insist, this is a school (or at worst a few schools) issue. How it got into a national frenzy that necessitated banning and vetting all books in all schools in Florida is beyond me. 3 Likes |

saxywale2: Sle. You don't understand the difference between the right and left. The left wants big gov andi micromanage people. What stands in their way is the 2nd amendment. They can't take guns from everyone using force because the civilians have more guns and ammo than the military. To confiscate guns they need to change the constitution which is impossible for now. Dems want total control of a defenceless population they can lord over When they ban high capacity guns what will prevent Dems from deciding only a single bullet chambered gun will be allowed. And after that only peole with a certain social score will be allowed to guns. The civilians fire more bullets in a month than the military by the way. Our brothers in Chicago fire at each other at a higher rate than in other cities. Dems are looking for tyranny. And thats why they are for open borders and illegals voting. But they can't lord over people armed to the teeth. And by the way why does the left not return all their guns As if it's guns that kill |

basilico:I am not talking about adults as per this topic. I am talking about having little kids with Guns in public places without supervision. How do you justify that? Are you comfortable with a 6 year old kid brandishing gun at a public place? I am okay with them having you guns not real guns. It seems the GOP don't even want to hear anything about guns. Whether the bill is good or bad, they seems to just reject by default. |
Re: American Politics Thread - 2024 Elections — Biden’s Presidency! by basilico: 10:17pm On Feb 14, 2023 |
saxywale2: I get you . Open carry an assault weapon. But I guess 99% of these kids carrying guns openly can shoot better than the chicago thugs. The most prolific sniper with most kills in America ( immortalised in a film- the American sniper ) was shooting a rifle with his dad at 6 years and he became a top marine sniper. In Iraq he saved a lot of lives because he could take down the enemy from afar. I think its a trade off. You want good snipers let kids start shooting when then they are young The finnish white death sniper with most kills in history in the Russia vs finland war also honed his accuracy before he was 10. By shooting enemy combatants from hundrends of yards he saved his fellow soldiers from the enemy Russia. So can we can conclude itts good for responsible fathers to teach their young children how to shoot , who knows how many lives they will save later in life? Optics , you will see a kid a brandishing a rifle ( many prefer AR-15 though those kids are skiled in shooting all types of WW2 era wooden single shot rifles) and all you think is a child 10 years should not carry a gun. . that alarms you but a 'thug' carrying a glock like our friend who disappeared cant shoot straight a thirty yards away while those kids have expertise spend time in the range. Kyle Rittenhouse. He handled the rifle very well and shot 3 ANTIFA thugs, looters and arsonists who wanted to kill him. 1 Like |

You got to read them to know what's in them to critique them, so blacks sure would read them, and whites would at least want to know what you banning, so they'd read them too. Senate Republicans fear Trump repeat as 2024 field emerges. Senate Republicans are growing increasingly worried that a crowded 2024 presidential field could ease the path for former President Trump to once again clinch the party’s nomination. Senate Republicans are growing increasingly worried that a crowded 2024 presidential field could ease the path for former President Trump to once again clinch the party’s nomination. South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s announcement on Tuesday that she will run for the GOP nomination is seen as a harbinger of things to come. A number of prominent former Trump administration officials, including former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former Vice President Mike Pence, are seen as likely to run. South Carolina itself may have an additional GOP candidate in Sen. Tim Scott. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is seen as a likely candidate, while possible entrants include New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan and Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin. “Look, we were all concerned with the fact that we had 15 or 16 or 17 individuals vying for attention in the last one. We really don’t want to see that happen again,” Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) told The Hill. “We just don’t.” Republicans in the Senate are tired of losing, and many blame Trump for the party losing the House in 2018, losing the White House and Senate in 2020 and failing to pick up the Senate in 2022. 1 Like |
