Keep playing your soundbite game. Ask yourself what your end goal is. Is it to better understand this issue, understand what both parties believe on the issues, understand how to prevent the issue, or is to come up with soundbites that make you "feel" right?

You understand the issue. The train's axle broke, it lost a wheel, the brakes wouldn't even have worked without the wheels, anyway.
So why were you trying to blame this tragedy on a guy who hasn't been in office for over two years?

Trump derangement syndrome.

Please play more soundbites... It bites

I can't waste my time on debunking all your misinformation in this post. Again, This is a good example of performative politics.
1.) Fill your misinformation gap: There is a good read:

https://jacobin.com/2023/02/rail-companies-safety-rules-ohio-derailment-brake-sytems-regulations

2.)You talked about Biden forcing workers back to work. Try this.. Figure out what position you think is right. Then, find the Biden position, the Republican position, the bill that passed, who voted for it, and what ended up being the final resolution. Hint: The Resolution was closer to what the train workers wanted which was closer to the Biden position and diametrically opposed to what Republicans wanted, and closer to what you've alluded to that you wanted.

What happened in Ohio is the Republican's worldview. Less regulation and corporate accountability to increase corporate profits, which leads to more things like this happening. In the end the cost of the tragedy is greater than the cost of the regulation would have been (this is going to be at a minimum a 1 billion dollar cost). But it doesn't matter to them, because the underrepresented bear it (by a coming cancer cluster and coming deaths), and the monetary costs are socialized through Federal spending. While people like you play your performative politics and cheer on your team/tribe. Well done.

Edit: This isn't Monday Morning quarterbacking. This was something that was proposed because those scientists and statisticians the right so loves to demean saw it as a distinct possibility. And instead of saying damn, the Trump team was wrong. You're spinning in pretzels.

To add insult to injury(probably because the Lawyers advised against it), the Railroad Company wouldn't even show up at the town hall meeting to answer questions from residents. Nigeria type nonsense.
Aside the left vs right thing and despite being new here, have had to fact check everything some posters post here. If not a few posters that keeps debunking misinformation, this thread would have been a cesspit. Maybe some people get paid here to post misinformation.

Speaking to investigative news outlet The Lever, Steven Ditmeyer, a former top official at the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), said the "severity" of the accident was likely increased by the lack of Electronically Controlled Pneumatic (ECP) brakes.

A rule was passed under President Barack Obama that made it a requirement for trains carrying hazardous flammable materials to have ECP brakes, but this was rescinded in 2017 by the Trump administration.

The industry said it would cost more than $3 billion to implement. The FRA under Obama said it would be around half a billion.

The National Transportation Safety Board, a federal agency responsible for investigating rail accidents, told The Lever that the Ohio train that derailed was not fitted with ECP brakes.
"Would ECP brakes have reduced the severity of this accident? Yes," Ditmeyer said.

Thanks for the factual information.

So why were you trying to blame this tragedy on a guy who hasn't been in office for over two years?

I believe one axle on one car broke. The train was about 1.9 miles long with about 150 cars. The brakes they have now, activate from front to back. Imagine what could happen if a front brake is stopped suddenly while the rest are moving. Try that on a mountain bike (you'd flip over), in terms of a train, you'd derail. The new system activates all the brakes at the same time.

But having said that, the issue is how the administration dealt with stuff like this. The Trump administration let the industries write the rules/regulations themselves. The classic fox guarding the hen house. In fact some in the Republican party want to get rid of, as some has said, all the 3 letter federal agencies. The EPA has 3 letters and so does FTA. In fact the Conservative Supreme Court just passed a ruling making it harder for the EPA to make rules. And you are sitting here acting as if Biden wasn't around, Republicans would have done better? It's that nonsense that brings the US closer to what the mayhem on Nigerian roads look like. You're form there, is that what you want to see?

On Tuesday, Norfolk Southern was reported to be handing out $1,000 “inconvenience” checks to residents affected by the E. Palestine derailment.

The company cut Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s “transition fund” a $10,000 check last month, after giving $6,000 to his 2022 campaign

The anti-union and pro-union busting party. The rail company knew what party to lobby (that says alot). I also remembered the union brouhaha last year and how the GOP voted. Joe Manchin did not dissapoint.

Rail company said granting 7 days sick leave to the Union workers would require them to hire more staff which means they would make maybe $11.9 Billion instead of $12Billion in annual profit.

The Fulton County special grand jury report excerpts

Nothing huge from these excerpts. No widespread fraud that would have changed the election and some people committed perjury. Have to wait for the rest of the report.

She tried - the rest are afraid to jump in at the moment.
I'm hoping Romney comes in.

They said white people today who don't own slaves should apologize for crime they did not commit.

He is just doing the same. Stupidly but I get the point he is making.

No one should be made to apologize for crimes they did not commit.

"I'm very sorry for all the pain I forced the victims and their families to suffer through. I'm very sorry for stealing the lives of your loved ones. I cannot express how much I regret all the decisions I made leading up to my actions on May 14," Payton Gendron, wearing an orange jumpsuit and shackles, said in court.

"I did a terrible thing that day. I shot and killed people because they were Black. Looking back now, I can't believe I actually did it. I believed what I read online and acted out of hate. I know I can't take it back, but I wish I could, and I don't want anyone to be inspired by me and what I did."

Basketball legend Michael Jordan knows the power of a wish. In honor of his 60th birthday on Feb. 17, he’s making a record-setting donation of $10 million to Make-A-Wish America! The gift – the largest from an individual in our 43-year history – is Jordan’s latest show of commitment to Make-A-Wish, which he has actively supported since his first wish in 1989. Jordan is donating to Make-A-Wish in order to inspire others to help us expand access to life-changing wishes in more local communities throughout the U.S.

“I can’t think of a better birthday gift than seeing others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic of having their wish come true.”
