Buhari achieved nothing in eight years; determined to destroy APC before leaving: Ganduje

The president has denied any nefarious motives behind the currency change, saying it was designed to curb money laundering and vote buying during the upcoming general elections.

Kano Governor Abdullahi Ganduje on Thursday said President Muhammadu Buhari did not achieve anything throughout his eight years in office, and is now determined to ruin the All Progressive Congress (APC) before leaving office in May 2023.

In a televised discussion on Thursday, Mr Ganduje, who spoke in Hausa, reminded the people how Mr Buhari had failed in his three previous attempts before 2015 when political parties merged to form APC and dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party from office.

Mr Ganduje further stated that Mr Buhari has had no tangible achievements to point out throughout his stay in office but had instead decided to destroy the party that brought him into power.

“In the first term, nothing of great importance can point out as his achievement, same as in his second term. So, why is he bringing out all these policies now? why not seven years ago? He just wants to collapse the party that produced him,” he said.

“How could care for Nigerians and then propose such a policy as the naira redesign? Why not seven years ago or after the election? This shows he is not a good leader; if he is, he would not remain calm seeing people setting properties on fire out of frustration,” the Kano governor added. “This is why we went to the court and stand against them because we know that their motive is to prevent free and fair elections. By God’s grace, all of their efforts will be in vain because we will reverse all these policies as soon as we win the election.”

The APC stalwart also mentioned that he would adhere to orders of the Supreme Court that recognised continuous usage of old naira notes, even as the presidency and the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN) are asking the banks to stop accepting the notes because they had ceased to be legal tender in Nigeria.

“People’s businesses are suffering, and you are asking for more time. I’ve ordered the closure of any supermarket that rejects old naira notes. Supreme Court recognizes the notes, and you are asking banks not to accept the notes. Who is more powerful between the Court and them?” Mr Ganduje, an ally of the president, said.

A spokesman for the president did not return a request seeking comments about the Kano governor’s comments on Thursday night. The attack came as other members of the president’s party were intensifying their pushback again the decision to delist N200, N500 and N1,000 banknotes across the country. The politicians, mostly governors of the ruling party, said Mr Buhari’s action was designed to plunge the nation into chaos.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai said the Buhari administration was working towards a military coup in Nigeria, saying an army general had already been pegged down to lead an interim government when Mr Buhari’s tenure ends on May 31. Why I Don't Support Tinubu for President of Nigeria

Personal reason: I don't like the choice of his Vice, he strikes me as the true face of Bokoharam.

Health reason: He is obviously struggling with his health and memories. It is not his fault that he is old, but it is his fault that he has refused to rest. I won't push him to an office that his health and age will not carry. He will end up ruling by proxy, which is not good for a country like Nigeria.

Reason based on justice: GEJ and his party were voted out of office based on incompetence, it is only fair that with the woeful failure of APC that has superseded that of PDP, the party should not be rewarded with another tenure.

Based on morals: Tinubu has consistently lied. He lied about his age, his education, and his family. They even hired people to act as bishops and priests in one of their unveiling programs. I do not trust anything he is promising. Even more, is the fact that he is an alleged drug lord and he has not denied his dealings with illegal drugs. My moral conscience won't allow me to consider him.

Religion: He is Muslim, his Vice is a Muslim and they both want to take over from a Muslim. In a country like ours with about 50% Christians, they are simply saying that the North has no Christians. And to make it more obvious, El Rufia in one of his recent interviews described the northern Christians as an "enclave".

Issue base: His major drive to be president is based on the fact that he considers the presidency as his turn (emi lo kan). Even on issues he has spoken about, none is coherent. And even if you think anyone is coherent, they don't seem to have emanated from him.

Politicians are the biggest hypocrites, they know when certain decisions/policies of their parties/leaders are harmful and anti-people but will blindly support it in the name of party loyalty.

99.1% of APC leaders and members abusing Buhari on this Naira note design were blindly openly supporting his terrible jingoism when the herdsmen were marauding and terrorizing peoples of this southern and middle belt.

How I wish they all come out to condemn Buhari when herdsmen beheaded the man in Igangan, Oyo state, killed the daughter of Pa Reuben Fashoranti, kidnapped and killed the US returnee in Ogbomosho, massacred 90+ people on new year eve in 2018.

People like Ganduje, El-Rufai, Tinubu and co never come to the defence of the helpless Nigerians.

I’m not supporting Buhari on his shameless new naira design, but we the black race should endeavor to condemn evil when we see one. Supporting evil agenda because our church member, religion member, tribesman or close associate is in charge will not help in anyway.

Although I supported Buhari in 2015...in 3 months into his disastrous reign I regretted it and didn't vote for him in 2019. But most people continued to support him and are now talking nonsense because they fear they are going to lose election.
